TALK OF HILLARY EXIT ENGULFS CAMPAIGNS Mon Jan 07 2008 09:46:28 ET
Facing a double-digit defeat in New Hampshire, a sudden collapse in national polls and an expected fund-raising drought, Senator Hillary Clinton is preparing for a tough decision: Does she get out of the race? And when?!
"She can't take multiple double-digit losses in New Hampshire, South Carolina and Nevada," laments one top campaign insider. "If she gets too badly embarrassed, it will really harm her. She doesn't want the Clinton brand to be damaged with back-to-back-to-back defeats."
Meanwhile, Democrat hopeful John Edwards has confided to senior staff that he is staying in the race because Hillary "could soon be out."

Key players in Clinton's inner circle are said to be split. James Carville is urging her to fight it out through at least February and Super Tuesday, where she has a shot at thwarting Barack Obama in a big state. But others close to the former first lady now see no possible road to victory, sources claim.

leave them alone Johnnie as in quit trying to prop them up with giveaways and excuses
what about the voters who do not vote in the primaries who usually vote democrat in elections?
I bet alot of those folks would take one look at obama’s name and think ‘huh??’
This is total and complete nonsense!
For gosh sakes, the illegal aliens, dead people, and Hillary's pals in China haven't even voted yet.
I'll believe it when I see it. Sorry, Matt. No disrespect intended.
But they already have Chuck “Schemer” as Senator, and a died in the wool Rep. in Nita Lowey who could run. I like this scenario as New York is losing seats in the next congress due to population drop.
I just had a frightening thought..... let’s suppose Shrillary really does approach the point at which reality sets in and she thinks she can’t win the ‘Rat nomination..... she has to get out while saving some face and having prospects for..... something..... in her power-hungry future. So she has her handlers make a “deal” with Obama — she throws her support to him in order to avoid fighting all the way to the convention, and he promises...... not the VP, she couldn’t bring herself to take that..... no, she extracts his most solemn pledge to put her forward to be the next Secretary General of the UN in 3 years or so when the current term is up!!
Think about it, that’s not usually seen as a position of power, but the Clintonistas could turn it into one..... and Obama would gladly seal the deal with that pledge to give himself an uncontested convention.
Not that the USA can dictate the choice of the UNSG, but putting Shrillary forward would win the support of lots of EU and 3rd World socialists who could rally around “first woman” figurehead of the world, etc.
That’s the Beast’s best Plan B if and when it does become clear that she will not win this race.
Whatever happens -
She will rise again
Yeah, I think the story came out of the Clinton campaign, too. Somebody probably thought it was a bright idea, that would focus attention on her.
I agree.
I think he is far less dangerous than Clinton, and in many ways inspiring, though precisely what he stands for is not being talked about.
On his campaign site, Homeland Security and Iraq are issues which can be looked at, but Terrorism is not.
Speaks volumes.
A nice change though, to have someone so positive.
Drudge is not a credible news source. Period.
a little early for celebration
Exactly. Glue those ash trays, lamps, paper wights...
And remove all sharp objects like pens, pencils, letter openers.
"it is generally accepted that the secretary-general should not originate from one of the permanent five member states"
Here is the link.
Thanks, I know that, but do you really think it would be so hard to persuade a lot of the world’s socialists to support her for the position? The Bill & Hill show would fly all over securing support, and a new precedent could easily be established.
Not seeing a lot of “exit” talk now the hillary is leading in NH, eh?
No way she gets out. Not even close. Its a suckers bet.

Told ya.
Of course she’s not getting out. Even if she lost NH and South Carolina, she would have no plans to get out.
