I agree. Too bad the Fredsters have taken over FR. The sooner Fred gets out, the better. If you haven't noticed, the "Fredsters" made FreeRepublic long before you got here. You may want to check out the FreeRepublic endorsement of Fred Thompson by the site's founder.

I like Fred and then Rudy myself. You have to be brave around these parts to back up Rudy though. Seems alot of folks have forgotten all about how we praised him all through 911. It’s a shame.

There is always going to be somebody at the bottom of the ladder, that is just the way it is. However, No one should be hungry in this country, and everyone by law gets an education. So we are doing pretty good.

Gotta love all the talk about investing some of your Soc Sec contribution into a separate 401K, with matching govt funds...I can just imagine the Lions on Wall St licking their chops at the thought of billion (yes billion) dollar bonus checks !..and then....suppose the Stock Market tanks about every 10 years, just a little 10-15% ‘corrrection’ that hits just before a guy or gal is set to retire...
If that had to be my choice, it would be 80% into bonds- even those can lose money in a bad year- and 10% domestic and 10% international stocl...diversified...
Then- try and sell that to paople getting about $480 a month only in Soc Sec...
