That’s a good one.
You haven't a clue about why Fred was not in the race early. He was drafted, and he had no campaign organization. A national organization does not appear overnight.
Fred's style is his style. It is not flashy and glib. It is also the style of someone who is rock solid on issues. Rather than voting on personality or looks like the chattering classes, perhaps actual conservatives show the intelligence to vote on issues.
Since the Romney campaign tried to knock off Fred and lowered his Iowa numbers and since the MSM is anti- Fred, think: it is because of his style or his SUBSTANCE?
He will not get his Indis or Dim crossovers that he normally gets in NH. They will all be voting for Bama.

Since 9/11, when the problem of interoperability of first-responder communications systems became starkly apparent, NYC, NY state and the Department of Homeland Security have all spent goo-gobs of money addressing it, thus far with questionable success, mainly due to its technological complexity. Giuliani was mayor for eight years before 9/11, during which time interoperability, to the extent it was an issue at all, had to compete with various other budgetary demands. It has now been over six years since 9/11 and countless millions in federal aid, and despite the obvious urgency of interoperability and the work of lots of energetic people to solve it, it remains a problem. (See e.g., here, here, and here; see also remarks of DHS Sec’y Chertoff on, among other things, the challenges of interoperability five years after 9/11; see also January 2007 DHS Interoperability Nationwide Survey (remarking of NYC: “As noted by exercise evaluators, FDNY and NYPD command ‘are now using the same radios on the same frequency band, which is a commendable development.’”) We can hope it is worked out after all these years; we won’t really know until the system is tested under fire.
Good comment. Why attack Mitt Romney or Fred T. for having changed their minds? We should, instead, compliment people for coming around.

I KNOW how the “Flat Tax” works. I just don’t think it is flat enough. At some point even the person with the highest income pays enough. Point of clarification, to others not you per se, the income tax is on TAXABLE INCOME not income. And it is not a tax that taxes the WEALTHY more. People confuse earnings (wages) and wealth (assets).
Maybe he would have done better if those issues would have gotten some discussion...lol

I think we agree.
If this Country was run half as well as some of his other enterprises it would be a clear win for the citizens. I spent the last Holiday week in DC as a tourist and clearly MANAGEMENT is required. I do not think President Bush ever got close to getting his hands around the actual government operations and I think Romney could make headway.
I’m also big believer in converts. Frequently a convert to anything can be a strongest proponent of the ideas. The thing I heard from Romney last night was my position exactly on immigration. Now some may say spin, but I believe it.
I also would love to see a Mormon in the WH. I lived in Idaho for awhile and met plenty of them and it is typically a very family oriented, hard working group. I’m a BIG tent guy on religion and ethnicity.
Is it just me, or is the difference in substance and knowledge between the Republican debates, on the one hand, and the Democratic debates, on the other, even more pronounced than in the other campaigns?
No conspiracy theory is necessary to explain Fred's poor performance. He tried to play outside the rules and got burnt. Plain and simple. Saying that, Fred as Romney's VP is a victory in my book since he has run such a terrible campaign (i.e. got in too late, has been forced to play catchup to raise dollars and infastructure, all of which has prevented him from focusing on getting his message out).
Fred will not be anyone’s VP. The other front-runners are just left of middle and he is a conservative.
We'll see.
Hi everyone, No, I haven't posted in a long, long time but I read the posts on here all the time. I just had to chime in here. My husband is a firefighter who, thank god, did not die on 9/11. He does not blame Rudy for the problems that did exist on 9/11 and he as well as most of his FF buddies support Rudy. They will also vote for ANY republican over Hillary or Obama, regardless of what their union leaders want. (Not to keen on Huckabee though.)My husband says that what he saw in Rudy on 9/11 convinces him he is the right guy. It also struck us both how Rudy attended so many brave first responders funerals and spoke to us all and how our Senator Clinton was no where to be found in those long days and weeks after 9/11.
Thank you, MacMattico. Some here, and many across America, feel as you do. God bless you and God bless your hero husband. Thank God he lived through that horrible day. I notice that the poster who attacked Mayor Giuliani re 9/11 has not been able to respond to you. It is no wonder, because you speak from authenticity. You lived it.

Oh please, no response is needed to a poster who states anecdotally that her husband and her friends don't blame Rudy. However, it is quite easy to respond that firefighter unions, from NY and elsewhere, organizations of 911 rescuers, organizations of 911 families, and numerous other firefighters do not agree that Rudy was "blameless" or that he was a "hero" of 911.
