In tonight's debate Mike Huckabee accused Romney of not supporting the troop surge when he did: "I supported the president in the war before you did. I supported the surge when you didn't."
Transcript:
One Year Ago, Gov. Huckabee Did Not Offer His Support For The Surge:
MSNBC's NORAH O'DONNELL: "We have a Rudy Giuliani, who supports the president's plan on Iraq. We have Governor Mitt Romney, who also supports a troop surge. How are you different from any of those candidates."
HUCKABEE: "Well, I'm not sure that I support the troop surge, if that surge has to come from our Guard and Reserve troops, which have really been overly stretched."
Huck's a freakin LIAR. He proves it once again.
Want to revise that critique of Romney Gov. Huckabee?
This guy has no shame (but his fawning masses of evangelicals will give him a pass on this too, I'm sure).
It certainly comes naturally to him. I was amused at the nerve he showed when he refered to other people as beong of the "chattering classes". He was a DJ, then a preacher, and is now a politician, all are members of the "chattering classes".
Yep Romney and Huck are both liars
I was thinking that myself earlier today! LOL
We need Ron Paul.
That is exactly what the issue was, with him. Watch the video or read the transcript, to find out.
Well if anyone can spot a liar, it’s Slick Willard.
Yeah Ron Paul is sane but only compared to the FlipMitt and the Huck...come on FRED....we are so screwed!
Huckabee should either explain how he wanted more troops before Romney went on record for what became known as “the surge,” or he should apologize.
Like a hemorrhoid we do.
At least I know FlipMitt and Hick wouldn’t stab our troops in the back.
In all fairness, when you have been campaigning for 20 hours a day for over a month, you are bound to say something inconsistent. At the very least, there will be plenty of opportunities to take statments out of context.
I start to see similar patterns between Huck and some Evangelicals.
And Fred is a pro choice federalist.

Looks like no one is fit for POTUS
Good point, at least Mitt & Huck don’t SAY they would stab the troops.
In all fairness.....
That may be the case about some arcane Supreme Court decision or a piece of legislation.
But, regarding the SURGE? Everyone knows where they stood when Bush announced the surge. That’s not the type of thing where you “mis-remember” what you stood for.
Thank you for posting this. This GOP dog pile on Mitt Romney is pretty disgusting.
“Huck tried to turn it into an issue about reservists and the NG being overused for the surge.”
Well, I hate to break it on you folks, but the ARGN and USAR are indeed overused and not at all appreciated by the regular army that sees them as 2nd class soldiers.
It is ridiculous to mobilize Guard and Reserve units when the regular army has a great many personnel that have never set a foot in a combat zone.
Now don’t get me wrong, I think it is good that the guard and reserve are being used. However, they are being used so much that it is hard to tell the difference between being regular or reserve component.
I know the Reserves and Guard have been stretched, but the surge needed to be accomplished somehow. Huck never really addressed how he would have handled the surge.
