Fred Thompson has been understandably frustrated with the media's obsession with "process" and horserace stories, particularly when media outlets fanned false rumors that he was ready to get out of the race. So Team Thompson is understandably happy with this exchange from NBC's Today Show, in which he refused to engage speculation about the source of anti-Thompson rumors and told Lester Holt "I owe you nothing."

If Michelle ran with it, she should do a retraction or apology.

When Fred Thompson is our president, he should start a media misery index.

Okay... if you want to read all that into the misconceptions of a few posts on Free Republic, have at it.
And his exact words are important. Surely, you have been on Free Republic long enough to know that FReepers very seldom read articles and comment without really understanding the full facts.

Fred Thompson's low opinion of the media is matched by only one person: Bobby Knight. One more....Barry Bonds

The one issue that conservatives have that can not - no,
WILL NOT - be tolerated by both the media and GOP leadership, is
STOPPING/CONTROLLING ILLEGAL IMMIGRATION.
Fred must be stopped, as must all who favor border control, fences or law enforcement of any kind that will impede the Republican power brokers desire for cheap labor.
That means perpetuating the myth that Fred doesn't want the job.

That certainly does explain some of FDT's opposition.
He's plain spoken - that cannot be tolerated in a world of doublespeak.

“But I also blame the larger media for picking up and running with unsubstantiated innuendo, such as that from Politico, the evening before and day of the first caucus.”
I agree wholeheartedly.

I was just tossing it out — let’s see if hostility towards the media is picked up by other candidates.

He could be plain spoken and be loved by the media.
It’s about what he’s saying. Not how he’s saying it.

He goes on because he obviously assumes he’ll be interviewed the way Wolf Blitzer interviewed him...

That says a lot, in itself.

Fred to MSM: I Owe You Nothing....except a lifetime of residuals from Law & Order.
It helps if you make comments that attempt to make some kind of sense...:)

The ugly truth is, both the DNC and the RNC want amnesty.
They just want it for different reasons.
The RNC wants cheap labor (MONEY!) and the DNC wants voters (POWER!).
And neither gives a rat’s arse what you and I want!
