Fred Thompson's low opinion of the media is matched by only one person: Bobby Knight.
Love it.

Fred wasn’t in the mood for any more B.S. from Big Media repeating campaign rumors.

Then why go on with these buffoons?

He still has to play the media game. He doesn’t have the $ for an end run around the drive-bys.

“Then why go on with these buffoons?”
Because Fred does need a chance to get his message out. And Fred also knows that the American people have a low opinion of the MSM becasue of their bias and lack of actually reporting the facts. I believe when Fred hands it back to the MSM he scores points with most Americans. Especially the way Fred does it in a calm, strong way and acting like a gentleman all the time! GO FRED!

The lying MSM maggot infested mediots run lies about Thompson and then want to grill him about their lies.
Thompson is to smart to play their end game and says $crew you.
He did this in one of the Iowa debates when the liberal female moderator tried to force a quick answer on a contrived question. He refused to sink to her level.

Steady Freddy tells the truth, panders to no one and is obviously not afraid of the media - they have tried to propel Rudy to the front, and did for a while, now it's McCain again; McCain gives the MSM all the time they want pandering his way to the top....snide little Banty Rooster.
Call or e-mail FOX and the rest of the media to get Fred on their radar, he is the only one who has nothing to hide; he is an adult. I am sick and tired of the over the hill rock star Senator Clinton and her disgraced husband - wonder how many mid-night calls were made to get that turn out for her today....someone will speak out and it will back fire. The Democratic party needs to cleanse themselves of the clinton cancer.

watch the video/audio. It was about the rumor the media spread that Fred was dropping out.

Because the quote in context tells a different story. Thompson complained to Holt that the media ran with the rumor started by another campaign that he was dropping out of the race. They did not have the decency to check to see if was true and it cost him a few points in Iowa. Holt asked him for the name of the campaign. Fred said he wasn't going to provide it because he didn't owe them the name.
So, it was not the dismissal of the media some here are taking it to be.

Disagree ... how can he “play” if they won’t let him in the game. He gets more “action” by telling them to stuff it. I live in SC, and on the 19th I’m voting for someone who isn’t afraid to tell big media to stuff it. Go Fred 08.

Then why go on with these buffoons? Thompson goes on these shows to try to discuss issues and get out his message. Holt just kept coming back over and over again trying to get him to name who started the fraudulent rumors about him dropping from the race.
All he wanted was to be able to run with a "Thompson accuses ______ of sabotaging his campaigning" story. Fred just made it clear he was not going to play that game. There is no upside for him to do so.

This is a novel spin on the old “Washington Outsider” tactic. The one where the candidate says, “I’m not one of the Washington elite, so elect me to be one of the Washington elite.” In Fred’s version, he says, “I hate the media, even though I have made a pretty darned good living off of them and now need them in my campaign.”
Cute stuff.

The Politico is largely to blame for not checking with the Thompson campaign before making the false statements about Fred last week. To the Politico staff, I advise: you need to rethink your war against honesty.
Allowing the Politico to have credibility in politics is like making OJ Simpson a marriage counselor.
