Thousands of Voters Change Party Affiliation
The Tampa Tribune ^ | Jan. 5, '08 | Karen Branch-Brioso

Thousands of Bay area voters have switched party affiliations since Aug. 25, when the Democraric National Committee voted to strip Florida of its delegates to the nominating convention. Florida's sin? Holding a presidential primary on Jan. 29, a week before national party rules allow. The switches greatly favor the GOP.

This means though, they will be voting for a republican that is with the Log Cabin Republican party. Alamo Girl has a page that has been tracking this since the Jim Nicholson days at RNC.

According to the latest reports some of the malfunctioning computers are even worse than the “hanging chads.” Lou Dobbs has had a series on computer malfunction and, contrary to what many believe, computers are very easily “doctored” to produce certain results. FL led the nation in voter machine technology after the 2000 election debacle - and after spending countless millions many of these “state-of-the-art” machines proved to be inherently defective.

From the linked article...

“That made Johnson one of at least 1,216 Democrats in Hillsborough, Pasco and Pinellas counties to switch to the GOP since Aug. 25.

He’ll switch back, after committing some political strategy in the GOP primary:

“I’m going to vote for the least electable Republican,” Johnson said. “I’m thinking Ron Paul.””

That is happening everywhere but Michigan will be the worst because Hillary will be the only top tier RAT on the ballot.

I think you’ve made a good point but every vote lost to the Dems - whatever the motive - is a plus. I really don’t think most people are so calculating with ulterior motives that they see themselves as advancing some ideological agenda. They’re just angry.

Aren’t y’all still allowed to vote for whichever liberal is nominated by either party in the general election? Unless Fred manages to pull it off I suspect our choices will come down to that. The only difference I can see is their choice of clothing. Hillary prefers a pantsuit while Rudy likes dresses. (LOL) I can see why none of them want to let us keep our guns. Anyway, by the time the second most populated state holds our primaries the candidates will have already been chosen and I’ll still be able to vote against Hillary.

.

I believe most legitimate swaps from dem to Republican in Florida are due to to all dem candidates being for:

1 - Illegal Aliens / Open Borders

2 - Cutting and running in Iraq

3 - Increasing taxes

4 - HillaryCare in any form

Florida has no state income tax

Floridians are used to that not coming out of their paychecks

They sure do not want increased federal income taxes &/or capital gains taxes

I don’t know the ‘makeup’ of Floridians. Know there are a lot of retired people there but also a lot of hispanic, Cubans, etc.

Of course, they are not a border state, just the Cubans boating in, lol. I would think they like the dems give away programs.

Most of the Cubans I've met are very hard working, family orientated, and Conservative.

Puerto Ricans on the other hand...............

The Cubans in Florida tend to vote Republican -

Largely because the democrats kiss up to Fidel Castro and want to tax working people

The Elian Gonzales grab by the Clinton-Reno Mafia did not help the democrats recruit many converts!

That’s good - I’ve heard both of you say the Cubans are hardworking and conservative.

Sorry to hear the PuertoRican’s aren’t. They were the friendliest sweetest people when I spent time in Puerto Rico.

Maybe the U.S. putting them on the dole spoiled them down there. They certainly don’t want to become a state, just the benefits without the contributions.

I like Fred but I’m still a (in vain) supporter of Hunter now that Tancredo has dropped out. As a FL resident I’ve noticed that Rudy is bombarding us with TV and radio ads. I live in Palm Beach County and, to give the devil his due, there are many transplanted NYC people who remember how Rudy really cleaned up crime there. He also was truly “America’s Mayor” on 9/11. As far as guns are concerned, I can impart a historical event in American history which I think PROVES the true meaning of the Second Amendment. It’s just my personal interpretation but I’d be glad to share it if you wish.

It is dirty tricks as usual.

Michigan may also have crossover Democrat voters in the GOP primary (no choice in the Democrat primary).

And yet to suggest that a Democrat would ever vote in a Republican primary just to dilute the conservative vote is considered a “shocking” accusation. Stuck pig squeals.

Every primary crossover voter is a RINO. And the Rats will hit us over the heard with it later to talk about all of the “Registered Republicans” who voted for Obama/Hillary/Edwards et al in the general election.

Maybe that is their “strategery”; to screw up the primary vote and to keep the results disputed on the GOP side (some candidates would have to spend time/money/energy/focus) on Floriduh.
