A Hard Loss for Romney By John Ellis
It's one thing to lose as you are. What you lose is an election, but there's always another election and in the case of presidential primary politics, a new electorate that awaits you in the next state. It's another thing to lose as you aren't. Mitt Romney was never the 700 Club right-winger his campaign managers conceived. He was and is a man of business and a very capable one at that.
He's all but doomed now. Senator John McCain will beat him in New Hampshire, probably by a lot, and Romney's media coverage will evaporate and his candidacy will consequently die. On January 9, his managers will walk in and say that the campaign needs $10 million or $15 million to continue and that he, Romney, will have to write the check. Everyone who would contribute has maxed out. Everyone who might won't. Two-time losers don't get new money. It's a basic rule of politics.

I’m a Christian and I CAN define a cult, and, I don’t need Martin’s help or a FReepers Definition for that matter.
Star Traveler is a threat to you???
You said — “If an organization is a sociological cult, then it is as dangerous as a theological cult.”
Well, the perspective is strictly the Christian perspective, not sociology. So, the sociological aspect is irrelevant, in the study of theology and Christian doctrine.
The sociological aspect would be relevant if one were talking about it from a general or societal viewpoint. But, once again, that’s not the viewpoint when talking about a “cult group” from the standpoint of Christian teaching, doctrine and theology.

Well written, Star Traveler. It’s up to Jesus to decide, but my alarm bells go off whenever I hear of a group that adds to the Bible or alters the clear meaning thereof.
Second: Mormons have never said they taught the same thing as other churches. They have a difference of opinion. Mormons don’t claim to be ORTHODOX Christians. They only claim to be Christian. Orthodox Christians aren’t the only Christians in the world. The definition of an orthodox Christian didn’t make any sense until after about AD 325. Who were the Christians before then, and what did they believe? They didn’t believe like you believe. I think I am wasting my time on you, so I will call it a day.
You said — “We have one gigantic problem in the Republican party. Some Evangelicals have gotten too big for their britches, and they are jeopardizing the future of the party with their bigotry.”
No, the big problem that has been brewing for a while, is that the votes that are generated by the Evangelical wing of the Party is not coming back with *results* that have been asked for by those same Evangelicals. That’s getting enough talk in Evangelical circles that many want to break away and start another party, *even* if it would not be politically very strong for a long while.
If this happens, it will be because many leave on the matter of principle and the GOP not following through with what the votes should have gotten. Then the GOP is dead in the water — for sure.
The Evangelicals will simply take a “long view” of the situation and do whatever is necessary out of a Biblical and principled stand.

Don’t make me laugh.
I eat people like him for breakfast.
Sounds to me like he is standing on the SOLID ROCK.
My hope is built on nothing less,
Than Jesus’ blood and righteousness.
I dare not trust the sweetest frame,
But wholly lean on Jesus’ name.
On Christ, the solid Rock I stand,
All other ground is sinking sand,
All other ground is sinking sand.
Hmmmm... Verrrry interesting.
And don’t forget that the term “bigot” is brought out and thrown around for good measure
You said — “Star Traveler is a threat to you???”
Well, of course, you and others know I’m not a threat. It’s only the faith and teachings of Christianity — which is a threat. I can disappear tomorrow and this Christian faith and its teachings will still be around. That’s because God oversees His Word and sees that everything is done as He says it will be.
It’s Christianity that is the threat...
Star Traveler: “No, the big problem that has been brewing for a while, is that the votes that are generated by the Evangelical wing of the Party is not coming back with *results* that have been asked for by those same Evangelicals.”
Actually conservatives of all stripes aren’t getting the results our candidates promised running. Small government types are getting no more traction with Republicans than evangelicals, and the alternative (DEMS) are even worse.
You pic accompanying the post gives a better picture of Mitt's flip flopping, than a pair of sandals.
Excuse me
This is The Church of Jesus Christ there is nothing martyr about it!
Preparing the way for the return of the Lord, his work and Kingdom continue until the whole earth is covered.
It is the Lord Jesus Christ leading the way.
a little humor!:)
But the good people of New Hampshire will have their say.
Now we can sleep.
Listen to your foolisness giving credit to forces that are contrary to God....
The only lying going on is your denial to take upon yourself the Name of Jesus Christ and to do his will!
You spend more time on the corner speaking fear and doubt and it seems no time building up the Lord's Kingdom....
An upstart arrogant hick “prophet” with a new holy book comes on the scene demanding we kowtow to him or else he will keep us out of heaven and when we reject his false doctrines we are bigots.
I can live with that.
Neither does Huckabee. McCain makes me shudder on a variety of levels.
Thompson is the only sane choice.
(Hunter fans need not reply, I know you like your guy but he isn't going to make it)
