“And Rush did not slam Huck the man—he pointed out Huck’s positions on key issues which are not at all conservative.”

He said he was not conservative. To conservative evangelicals that is a serious insult. Rush will loose audience. Loss of audience means loss of money.

The truth was insulting? Maybe evangelicals should grow thicker skin. It’s sad really.

“Rush will loose audience.”

I was unaware he had tied them up.

You have the positions reversed. It not Rush who will be hurt by this but Huckabee

After almost 20 years being around his audience is there because they agree with his outlook. So when Rush speaks he is saying what most of his 20,000,000 member audience is thinking.

It good the Huckabees love their guy, but they should not let their love for their candidate blind them to reality. To win the Presidency you have to build a coalition of interests. Just having this or that interest supporting your candidate is not enough.

Rush speaks for a goodly portion of the Conservative movement. The Huckabees should be reaching out to, not trashing, the Rush fans if they want to win.

Screaming insults and bile at Rush, and by extension his audience, for asking tough questions of Huckabee is the utterly the wrong tactic to take.

"Rush will loose [sic] audience. Loss of audience means loss of money."

Gas leak?

Seriously, SV, don't lose perspective here -- Rush has been stable at 14M for the past five years. Nothing is going to change that. Hannity is an improving second, and the rest are nowhere.

Remember who struck first. If Ed Rollins is going to shoot off his mouth and play identity politics by trying to establish an anti-Rush meme, the negative karma will tsunami Huckabee and he won't even know what happened:

Letting criminals out of jail is not a conservative position.

I think conservative evangelicals should be insulted that you think Huckabee is one of them.

news flash.

Huckabee IS NOT a conservative.

never was.

That was obvious from day one.

He may have conservative positions, but he is dead wrong on most all others.

He raised taxes.
He advocates a new government entitlement program. (prebate check to every family the government approves)
He advocates anti-fat person laws. (no fun food for you)

The measure of a conservative is more than just the abortion issue or thumping on a bible.

Huckabee is not a conservative, learn to live with it.

Rush will loose audience.

He will only lose those that don't listen to him.

Only if the most important thing to 'conservative evangelicals' is the man's faith. If his faith overrides everything thing else he's done and voted on, then they are using one issue to guide their votes. Huckabee certainly hasn't ruled or governed as a conservative.

I can't see Rush's audience being that unthinking. Some maybe, but not enough to make a difference.

And Rush finally sticking up for conservative principles might bring back all those that left listening to him when he was the GOP waterboy during the amnesty debacle of the last Republican congress.
