The latest news from Iowa? According to Zogbys latestand I quote: Sen. Fred Thompson has seen a late-breaking surge. (Rich notes the same poll below.)
Whats going on here? My guess is that there are whole lot of Iowa Republicans who have about the same attitude that David Limbaugh displayed in his column yesterday:
Fred is the only [candidate] I don't have major reservations about
.I find his lack of "fire in the belly" refreshing. He strikes me as one of the few presidential candidates since Ronald Reagan whose primary motivation is not personal aggrandizement but rather serving and leading the nation in very troubled and dangerous times. I see him as almost being drafted into this project, and his refusal to drool publicly over the prospect of becoming the most powerful man in the world is positively delightful.

Thank you, Radiohead! We will all be with you in spirit tomorrow!
Go FRED!!!
Right, that's why they keep talking Fred down about how he looks too old and tired, not energetic like the other guys. They're not paying attention to what he has to say, just how he looks when he says it.
Why, yes. It is. Despite about a bajillion posts trying to obscure that fact, it is good news.
Thank you very much for standing up for Fred tomorrow.
Hoping for a great day tomorrow!
Well, January 3rd will finally be here tomorrow. It will be interesting to see how it all turns out. I am glad to think some Iowans are coming to their senses and realizing Fred Thompson’s the man for the job.
Thanks for writing.
Good night all.
Good night.
“Better worry about Mitt, then. Isnt that who you are supporting? ;)”
What, exactly, am I suppossed to be worried about?
“The jump-the-shark moment has to be the complaints about Fox News. (John Edwards also got into it with Fox. What is it with Trial Lawyers and Fox?)”
What did he say about Fox news? I was being truthful when I said I am a little behind the political news of late.
“If it ends up between Fred and McCain, I dont think theres much to worry about frankly... Elephants never forget, and I certainly havent forgotten what McCain stood for during the whole Shamnesty debacle.”
DITTO THAT!
Thank you for confirming some of my suspicions — especially about the second poll you mentioned. Hard to get a clear picture when you leave out half of the equation.
I forgot to say thank you! There will be many here that you will be “speaking” for tomorrow night. We’ll be with you in spirit! :)
“What did he say about Fox news? I was being truthful when I said I am a little behind the political news of late.”
You’d have to ask the Fredheads.
According to one of them, Fox did a story on Fred!! at the Iowa State Fair. The report mentioned that Fred!! wore his Gucci loafers to Fair. I’ve never seen the report so I don’t know what the big deal is or why Fred!! thinks he’s getting a raw deal from Fox.
Again, everything I know about the story I got from a Fredhead. So take it for what it’s worth.
And yet by your comments here it seems that you are letting those same “keyboard jockeys” dictate who you will NOT support??? Doesn’t make too much sense to me, frankly. Why not take your own advice and look at the candidates themselves instead of those who make these comments (some of whom may NOT be actual Fred supporters?). The internet is full of people playing games, it’s best not to take the majority of it seriously you know?
Lindsay Lohan doesn’t look old and tired, but then she is not a Constitution-loving, intelligent leader who can take the United States of America safely through the dangerous future that awaits us.
My concern about Mitt was in reference to your comment.
Don’t forget, McCain’s negatives in Iowa are at least double his positives (due to opposing ethanol subsidies—which while a valid position, doesn’t win any brownie points with the Iowa farmer). Thompson may trounce McCain, and if Huckabee melts ala Dean, puts FDT in play for a second place finish...
Suzy...I understand your frustration with folks like me. I have a feeling however, that folks like me have quite a few campaigns under our belts and we are worried about Thompson.
I remember telling anyone that would listen that Bob Dole had no chance of winning against Clinton if we nominated him. You would have thought I had burned the bible and flown off with it on a broom.... but who won? Clinton.
I want a leader as President. So far, there are only two potential leaders in our pack...the rest are poseurs. One leader is a conservative and the other leader is a republican.
Like Rush said today...the only thing a President can do about the abortion issue is LEAD or put people on the bench with a favorable leaning. Other than that, a Prez can’t do much about that issue. We need to focus on our Congresscritters for that.
OK..here it is folks..flame away. I am leaning more and more for Guilianni if I can’t have Hunter. I like his honesty and his other ‘stuff’... I can live with....lol. I know quite a few conservatives who feel the same and are only being cowed by the vitriole on the boards. IN the booths...they are going to surprise you.
Heehehee
My four year old was sitting at the table the other day coloring.
I hear:
“Grandma’s smart. She’s voting for FRed.”
“Grandpa’s smart, too. He’s voting for FRed.”
“Other Grandma isn’t voting for FRed.....”
(Needless to say, “Other Grandma” is NOT my mother! :)
