Opposition leader Benazir Bhutto has been critically injured after a suspected suicide attack at a political rally in Pakistan.
It was believed to be a suicide attackShe is undergoing emergency surgery at a nearby hospital, Sky News sources say.
The explosion went off just after Ms Bhutto left the rally in Rawalpindi, minutes after her speech to thousands of people.
Quite a few freepers seem convinced we have Pak’s launch codes - the required second key. God I hope they’re right.
Al-Qaeda may have been trying to frame Musharraf in an attempt to destabilize the country. Certainly martial law is back in Pakistan. If al-Qaeda did it, then they had their reasons for it. Are they prepping the area for another operation? I doubt it, but who knows.
I have known OF Benazir Bhutto for a dozen years and BUT I BARELY knew her as a leader or a person since I don't know how many children she had. I knew her as someone was willing to take a risks to persue democracy on behalf of the people of Pakistan, something I will never do for the American people. She wrote a very moving autobiography, that I never read or else I would have know how many children she had, which begins with the assassination of her father who was had been the leader, a term I know nothing about, of Pakistan and was killed as well.
I grieve for her family, particularly her two children, but since I have the mental IQ of a Homer Simpson, I keep forgetting that the person I claimed to know had THREE children not two.
There corrected.
Good point.
Used to be every time there was an alarming report of the possible imnpending doom of the planet I would buy a couple cans of Spam. I stopped doing that long ago mainly because of running out of storage space.
If you are a Islamic extremist trained at or being led by a commander who was trained at an Al Qaeda camp then I think it's accurate to describe you as Al Qaeda. Commanders have a broad latitude to plan and carry out attacks.
Between the 18Oct07 attempt and this attack, IMHO, I’d be more worried regarding the security of Pakistani WMD if it really was an AQ hit, than if they were simply being used as a scapegoat by others. Not because of looming actions by AQ, but by the capabilities of orchestrating a coordinated attack from within on such short notice without telegraphing that internal threat, IMHO would indicate the security around any existing strategic systems have probably already been compromised far beyond our ability to perceive it.
I would think so. That country has islamofascists nuts and nukes. Political unrest is a scary thing over there right now.
Excellent. You might add “Since I spent 8 minutes with her 12 years ago that makes me fully vetted, and gives me enormous experience in how to combat terrorism . I am the only candidate with this type of foreign policy experience, and the only one qualified to be President.Oh, did you know that Obama was still in grade school in his Madrassa then?”
IMHO, I find it more intriguing that such an international issue is being made out the situation.
It’s not as if Bhutto hasn’t been recognized as a globalist player for years/decades.
It’s not as if she hadn’t already been targeted for assassination in an almost indefensible area.
It’s not as if everybody doesn’t know about WMD in the area.
It’s not as though Pakistan hasn’t been subject to widely divergent political influences internally and stabilization was always robustly established.
It’s as though either an unanticipated play was made or an unknown player had been introduced into the arena, which fouls preplanned strategies.
Yes, Alqaida also does not call up and claim credit."
Massoud was a targeted AQ assassination.
Or get their hands on the nukes that Pakistan has.
Jury is still out. It was likely Taliban gangland business.
Breaking News
The UN just condemned the killing in their harshest language.
txflake: I beg to differ...remember Massoud who was killed on 9/9/01."
You beat me to it, txflake. LOL!
Pishposh. There's no such thing as "militant [mass murdering] fundamental islam" unless there are people and groups who practice it.
Your little label is worse than useless, because it neglects that human aspect. It does, however, relieve you of the need to think -- which is perhaps the defining characteristic of mindless keyboard kommandoism.
I was just reporting what he said on FNC.

You beat me to it, txflake. Oops, I meant freedom4me. LOL!
Yes, and it was done to clear the decks for a big operation, as well.
