GOP contender will not rule out third-party run [Guess Who?]

WASHINGTON (CNN) – Texas Rep. Ron Paul refused to rule out a third party bid Sunday if he fails to win the Republican Party presidential nomination.

When Tim Russert of NBC’s 'Meet the Press' asked the Texas congressman if he’d consider an independent bid, he replied: "I have no intention of doing that."

When pressed by Russert to state unequivocally that he would not, Paul demurred. "I deserve one weasel wiggle now and then, Tim!"

Paul lost to Phil Gramm in the 1984 Texas Republican primary for the U.S. Senate. Four years later, he ran for president as the Libertarian Party nominee.

The Republican presidential contender — who has an intensely loyal national following — is pulling in record fundraising sums, prompting speculation that he may continue his White House bid even if he does not fare well among Republican primary voters.

Paul is currently averaging single-digit showings in most recent surveys of GOP voters nationally and in early-voting states.

I think he might if someone like Huckabee or Guiliani gets the nod. I can’t imagine he would if Thompson, Romney or Hunter got it.

He’s been polling at 6-8% the last month. MSM might like him to run for 3rd party but would hate him worse than any major republican candidate—he’s a socialist nightmare.

Ron Paul is an anti-Christian bigot and a prick

Got any proof for this comment, or are you the real prick?

Nonsense, most leftist hate Paul besides his Iraq stance more than mainstream RINOs. He’s a socialist’ kryptonite.

He’s been a registered Republican for about 20 years. He’s been a long time member of the RLC. He’s strongly Pro-Life and small government. I disagree with his foreign policy and as such won’t get my vote in the primary (will go to Duncan Hunter) but lets’ not just make up crap because you dislike the guy.

Like putting lipstick on a pig! We who fund all this crap are tired of it. What it's called doesn't matter. A pig is still a pig.

So which major Republican candidate is cutting out all pork & ear marks? Oh that's right, they are all in favor of MORE of them with the exception of Hunter (who is getting my vote).

I wouldn’t expect a response from him, and if you do get one, don’t expect it to be anything but name calling.

Ron Paul wants to unequivically close the borders, build walls and deport illegals so I don’t really see your point.

Paul will take the Libertarian-Pubs who are so filled with unreality in domestic and foreign policy decisions, Isolationist, so filled with disgust over so called promises that they should know are always compromised (even Ronnie did sometimes) that they will break apart the GOP coalition for pure revenge and self righteous conviction. Of course, like Perot, they will produce some Socialist-Pacifist Dem as Prez and both Houses will fall deeper into Dem hands. Outrageous, inane, and self-destructive but purists of any camp do that though they will then rue the day when the results become clear in a general election. I will support the GOP nominee, period.Because I know that that guy will be better than the Hildabeast or the Empty Suit.

Ron Paul could take just enough votes to put Hillary in the white house. There is no question in my mind Perot caused Bush’s loss in 92 and put Clinton in the white house

You can bank on it. I guarantee that Paul will run as a third-party candidate. Who do you think is financing his campaign right now?

You might want to check post 99 to see that it is possible to correct a misimpression by someone without resorting to gutter language during the Christmas holiday season.

Gutter language? LOL. If that is gutter language to you, you should grow some skin. Besides, the real gutter language on here is you and a few others telling lies this holiday season just to trash a man you don’t like.
