Against all odds, and despite the usual drumbeat of criticism, President George W. Bush has had a very good year. The troop surge in Iraq is succeeding. America remains safe from terrorist attacks. And the Goldilocks economy is outperforming all expectations.
At his year-end news conference, President Bush stated with optimism that the economy is fundamentally sound, despite the housing downturn and the sub-prime credit crunch. The very next day, that optimism was reinforced with news of the best consumer spending in two years. The prophets of recessionary doom, such as former Fed chair Alan Greenspan, Republican advisor Martin Feldstein, ex-Democratic Treasury secretary Lawrence Summers, and bond-maven Bill Gross have been proven wrong once again.
Calendar year 2007 looks set to produce 3 percent growth in real GDP, nearly 3 percent growth in consumer spending, and over 3 percent growth in after-tax inflation-adjusted incomes. Meanwhile, headline inflation (including food and energy) will have run at 2.5 percent, with only 2 percent core inflation.
Jobs are rising over 100,000 per month and the stock market is set to turn in a respectable year despite enormous headwinds. Low tax rates, modest inflation, and declining interest rates continue to boost Goldilocks, which is still the greatest story never told.

Wishing y'all a very Merry Christmas! God bless.
Merry Christmas
Permanently pissed off his base by trying to force the Alien Amnesty through twice and totally forgot to build the fence, which appears to be only an obselete 2006 election ploy.
Other than that things were peachy.
Best Pres since Reagan.
Mark my words....we will dearly miss him after he is gone.
There is this haze of negativity and hate towards Bush from some Republicans. If we stepped back and looked at the whole person--the way we do with Reagan, who indeed signed an amnesty, who backed fuel taxes, who was more pro-abortion as governor than he was anti-abortion as president, and yet we rightly consider him a giant--we'd realize just how lucky we are to have him in charge at this time, because the simple fact is that he is doing an excellent job overall.
While Bush wasn’t absolutely everything we could have wished for, he wasn’t the absolute worst (that’s pretty good praise for a politician). I think his good outweighed his bad. 7/10 for Bush
Kudlow’s friggin great though.
Merry Christmas.

But this is not mentioned in the news — people have to follow business news in detail to be aware of it. Most people think the economy is terrible, that’s what the MSM is telling them.
>>>Permanently pissed off his base by trying to force the Alien Amnesty through twice and totally forgot to build the fence
Mandatory thread hijacking post. We now resume our regularly scheduled programming.
The Left HATES him with an abnormal passion. We are talking an assassination movie as well as a book, endless anti-Bush web pages, NYT frothing at the mouth, etc, etc, you know all the rest.
Anyone that can draw that kind of hatred from the Left is my #1 guy!
That’s what I am going to miss the most - we are in for a huge come down. :(
If your not taking flak, your not over the target.
Precisely.
Out: BDS (Bush Derangement Syndrome)
In: MDS (Mitt Derangement Syndrome)
And the rats are deeply saddened.

Here is a question. Did he “piss off the base” or did he pull the base closer together?
Best Pres since Reagan.True, but that might be the lowest bar in presidential history. Daddums was a whimp in sheep's clothing and the bent one was by far the biggest crook to ever shyster his way into the WH.
It’s not “hijacking the thread” to mention Bush’s glaring failures on amnesty and the fence. The subject is evaluating Bush’s performance in the last year. The article claims that performance was “very good”. Don’t we get to dispute claims by articles posted? When an article is posted we must agree with every word of it, otherwise we are “hijacking the thread”?
Is that what you’re saying?
Right now, compared to what appear to be the likely prospects, Bush is looking pretty darn good.
