you asked “what the hell” we were afraid of in the cold war. The post shows what we were afraid of , per another Paul supporter, that “half the world would be laid waste.” There were a lot of people at the time who, like you, didn’t believe that the soviets were a threat at all.In fact, much like the implication of Paul supporters, or as it seems to me, it was the U.S. that was the main threat to world peace. Paul, at least according to this post, wasn’t one of them.
How's Peden's fundraising going? :-)
A Libertarian is also challenging Paul for his seat too, which means he'll split Peden's vote and Paul's margin of victory will be that much greater.
“””........ instead of going crazy over a presidential candidate that you guys aren’t going to vote for anyway.”””
I am so confused then as I thought this was a political debate board?
What are we doing here then?....
Thank you.
I have it on tape, now I can e-mail it.
I am voting for Ron Paul.
Why should our troops go hunting for Bin Laden?? He could be in any Country in the World, so we send our troops on wild goose chases to find him. That is truely idiotic and a smokescreen for do nothing.
Pray for W and Our Troops
But on Paul threads, it becomes a neo-liberal media board. Because all objectivity and facts are thrown out the window here when it comes to Paul.
What are we doing here then?
Getting wound up over a guy who supposedly can't win.
Now that the calvary has arrived, I expect the Paul bashers to get angry and starting pinging the Mods and Jim to try and get us banned.
Amen. I've got to go tend the woodpile. I gave this nonsense more time than it deserved actually looking for the evidence of those "100's of photo-ops" at stormfront. What crap.
A position of stregth is the only place to negotiate from, I agree. Looking back though, it blows my mind, can you ever see a Communist country inventing cell phones, the PC, plasma tvs, or anything we enjoy today? I mean, they spent half their money on the military. Did we ever spend more than 10%? Different times I guess, and hindsight is 20/20. We probably could have ended the Cold War in the 60s if anyone had enjoyed the cajones of Reagan, and simply spent them under the table.
With that in mind, it makes me wonder why we worry about China today...
I have never pinged anyone thank you. Paul threads get the attention they do because of his outrageous statements made under the banner of “Republican.”
He changes parties and it will be the kiss of death in the attention whoring department as we will no longer care what moronic things he utters.
“Here it is. Now spin.”
I wanted to hear it in context. I couldn’t believe over 100 posts had gone by and no one had asked for it in context.
Listening to it, that one sentence doesn’t jibe with the ones around it. I think he might have meant to say something else, but I can’t clarify for him.
I am (rightly) just skeptical about the pining on process. For example, yesterday’s outrage was a partial quote posted on another thread. It turned out after some research that the quote was from some guy who would normally never get any credit for truthfulness on FR - so the poster intentionally left out the source. Or another that zeroed in on a speculator sentence, but in context which asn’t posted, that wasn’t his point at all.
I’m not voting for Paul, but an skeptical about the motives of many who go out of their way to trash a guy who in the same breath they say has no chance.
President Franklin D. Roosevelt: Yesterday, December 7, 1941a date which will live in infamythe United States of American was suddenly and deliberately attacked by naval and air forces of the Empire of Japan...The notion that FDR could in fact do anything but issue "run away, run away" orders to the tattered remnants of our Pacific fleet prior to December 8 is simply a bizarre fantasy or a lie.
Seriously suggest you look at some of the videotapes of recent Paul statements.
This is not some writer’s interpretation, not some quote taken out of context. This is his full and direct response to a clearly stated question.
He is nuttier than a fruitcake.
Would you expect anything else coming from the mouth of the guy who blamed 9-11 on the United States! Paul is a jackass!
They get the "attention" because there is a deep-rooted fear that he may get elected and start actually advancing Constitutional principles (GASP!). Which means that a lot of conservatives in the blogosphere and in the beltway would be out of jobs because the war against the Left would be over.
There are many special-interest groups whose livelihoods are at stake at the prospect of a Paul presidency. A lot of people make a handsome living pimping the problems of this country rather than having them actually resolved.
He changes parties and it will be the kiss of death in the attention whoring department as we will no longer care what moronic things he utters.
If you keep bashing him and his supporters, they are going to stay home or write-in Paul's name in the general and that will drive a stake through the elephant-rhino hybrid that represents the GOP. You apparently do not understand that Paul's supporters are very well-educated & fervent in their support of the candidate. They have already emasculated all of the smears and lies about Paul on dozens of newspaper articles comment sections. These new supporters are, indeed, the godchildren of the FReepers who rose to power in the late 90s.
No one's worried about RP winning the GOP nomination; they're worried about him going Ind. with his big pile of cash and siphoning enough votes away from the GOP nominee in battleground states to tilt the election to the Donkey nominee. ...a justifiable concern, given our evenly divided country (electorally). And it's one with recent historical precedent on the other side of the aisle. (Nader's third party bid prevented Al Gore from winning FL in '00. ...which of course cost the latter the election). And of course we all know about Ross Perot in '92.
RP's no concern at all as long as he keeps his word and doesn't make an Ind. run.
Ah, you attracted the RP thugs for making a salient point. Enjoy the tagteam action for being sane. That cannot be tolerated by those in the cult or the Chinese Mafia War Room. Enjoy the spin cycle.
Pray for W and Our Troops
It’s no different with China today. if they are ever able to really compete with us, it means they are no longer Communist. They pretty much have to be capitalist. And when did 2 capitalists ever fight? Too much money to be made trading.
