Then consider that there are Freepers in the tri-state area who are - gasp - JEWISH! Imagine! Actually, we Jews have no holiday even close to January 6th (unless one counts Shabbat). Maybe Firebrand could have called it a New Year's Party but some of us savvy Jews would have recognized it as a clandestine Feast of Circumcision party. (Hey! Circumcision, that's our thing isn't it?) For the record this Jew has no problem with Christmas parties. In fact I wish to extend greetings for a Merry Christmas to all of my Christian FReeper friends.
And speaking of holidays, does anyone know why alternate side parking has been suspended for two days now?

NFL Wildcard Weekend My problem too. Otherwise I would be a definite yes already. (I'm too old to start missing Giant playoff games now!)

And speaking of holidays, does anyone know why alternate side parking has been suspended for two days now? Answering my own question, Arutz-sheva tells today me:
This week is the Moslem holiday Ein ul-Adhaa.
Now there's a reason for a party! (Ein ul-Adhaa will be OVER!)

Can't make it. :-( As I've said many times before, Sundays aren't good for me. Is there any possibility of alternating between Sundays and Saturdays every year in the future? Yes, I understand that some can't make it on Saturdays, but does that mean that those of us who have religious obligations on Sundays are SOL?

Gee, if someone could get a sponsor and rent a theatre, I’d have to fly out there and show a certain film.

Maybe Firebrand could have called it a New Year's Party but some of us savvy Jews would have recognized it as a clandestine Feast of Circumcision party. Feast of Circumcision? So it's one of those BYOC (bring your own cutlery) things? But dat's s'okay, I'll pass on the hors doeuvres. ;-)
My point being, it's an all-encompassing event, because even Christmas is going to be but a memory by then. But I'll not crap on the thread any further.
I do wish I could make it, though. Sounds like a good time, and I'm guessing the discussion will be quite lively with political silly season in full swing.
Have lots of fun, everybody, and I'll look forward to the post-game report!

Great. Glad you can make it.

My Russian Orthodox friend points out that they call it Theophany.

I’m glad. Will add you to the list of yeses.

What does SOL mean? Is that Latin for "chopped liver"? Anyway, the logic is that Christians have more leeway in their Sabbath observance than Orthodox Jews.
Wish you could come. Can you come later?

Black Levis with a dinner jacket are acceptable.
