In addition to raising auto fuel efficiency standards 40 percent, an energy bill passed by Congress yesterday bans the incandescent light bulb by 2014.
President Bush signed the 822-page measure into law today after it was sent up Pennsylvania Avenue in a Toyota Prius hybrid vehicle. The House passed the bill by a 314-100 vote after approval by the Senate last week.

I don’t think we go through very many in a year’s time. Seems like we buy one or two packs a year from the Lion’s Club drive and our inventory grows.
“Doubtful. Everyone hates low flush toilets, but were stuck with them.”
I don’t scrap them when i change them out for people, II stockpile them .
Mine are all the older one flush and it’s gone ones.
Stock up now
Right, and you are supposed to take them to the HAZARD DUMP!!
You’re not stuck with LF toilets.
If you remodel or build, get your inspector to sign off with some cheap build-o-box-store model. Then, toss it. Go get a real crapper at a re-use center or architectural salvadge store near you and plug it in. Nothing, I repeat, nothing beats a restful and meditative moment on a fully functioning throne.
...and agreed to by the RINO's in congress and agreed to by our genius President.
just wait.
And fish and reptilian hot lights.
You are absolutely correct!
As an electrical contractor, we do install dimable flourescent lighting in many commercial customer's buildings, but VERY,VERY expensive.
Also, despite recent technological improvememts, ALL flourescent bulbs/tubes contain some mercury, so throwing these new ECO-BULBS into the landfill is just crazy, if your an enviromental whacko.
Stock up on incandescent bulbs, FRiends, it's only going to get worse!!
What about ...... Hens?
They aren’t always an option.
Did we elect AL GORE with an “R” next to his name? Seems as the kook-fringe keeps pulling the strings and the RINO puppet does a pretty dance.
Next, they’ll make us pay to dispose of the hazardous fluorescent bulbs.
Do you think Al Gore might own the company that does that?
What bullshit. Is there any part of our life they don’t want to control? I’m going to buy a few cases of incandescents.
LOOK...Bush HAD to sign this crappy bill because of funding the TROOPS for the WAR!! He does NOT have the LINE ITEM VETO. Don;t blame Bush BLAME YOUR FREAKING CONGRESSMAN....do you know their name???? Find it out and how they voted.
That only happens with personal chickens, the industry uses incubators and heat lamps.
I guess I should sell my tungsten holdings.
And people wonder why businesses don’t invest in long-term R&D as much as they used to. Why should they, when they don’t even know what will be legal in a few years, after they’ve spent a billian or so.
Thanks to Congress, the crimmigrants invading our country will be rich if they bring a back pack full of black-market light bulbs.
I am sure this will have ramifications and unintended consequences, we haven’t even begun to think of.
