He was quoting somebody else, and he immediately followed it with “I don’t know if that’s a fair assessment.” Post the whole transcript, smear artist.

Also, do you really believe that the cross behind Huckabee wasn’t planned?

Well, historically, Christianity has not been associated with fascism very closely. Hitler invented his own religion based on mythology and pagan traditions to replace Christianity as the new Nazi religion. Fascism worked well in many Arab counties however during the nazi period. Communism is another style of fascism in my opinion with the state being substituted for one figurehead in many cases. It also relies on minimizing Christian beliefs or replacing them with something else.

Good synopsis. Fascism, Communism, any other ism - They all come about when the leader decides to force everyone to believe a certain way or when the people collectively begin to believe that Government is the Savior of all of their problems and the world's problems. Hence, you have Liberalism. Just another ism.

The beauty of conservative thinking is that it places responsibility on the INDIVIDUAL and therefore can never become an ism and the beauty of this country is that the Founding Fathers figured out what happened when countries became ism's so they framed the Constitution to not allow this to happen. They framed it so that we could believe whatever we want to believe and will not be forced by ANYONE to believe something. In the same way, they also made it so that you can believe what you want, but you still have to follow general rules like you shalt not kill, steal, etc.

Ron Paul gives himself away with his campaign slogan, frankly, and proves that he is no conservative.

We don’t need a “Revolution.” We need a counter-revolution - against those who are destroying the foundations of our free republic.

And the cornerstone of American liberty is the self-evident truth that our rights to life and liberty come from our Creator.

Ron Paul is completely disconnected from that self-evident truth.

Which, of course, is why he arrives at so many crazy conclusions. If you can’t see what is self-evident, you’re sure going to miss the stuff that is more subtle.

Huckabee never said he is the only Christian. Neither does he imply it. It's Christmas and Huckabee is not ashamed to acknowledge Christ. It says nothing about anyone else but Huckabee himself.

I don’t know what I think of Greenspan. He certainly screwed Bush I over royally by creating a recession at election time (I’m no rocket scientist, but I know that if you create an inverted yield curve through your monetary policy, you practically guarantee a recession of some kind). That said, Clinton with the Republican Congress actually balanced the budget and ended the grossest abuses of the welfare system by making it time limited, allowing work and the like. It was serendipity but it worked out pretty well. Now if the Chinese use our rocket technology to ultimately nuke my hometown I might reevaluate the virtues of the politics of that time . . .

I’ve read almost everything of Ayn Rand. She was a very good philosopher. Not the best by a long shot, but very, very good.

I have too, but I especially enjoy this particular speech for some reason - probably because what she said then is still relevent now, only the characters have changed. Guess that's the beauty of philosophy, eh? :) Have you heard this speech?

He was? From what I’ve read, he was just a plain old nut. If you accept that Koresh was “dangerous”, then some of the Founders by comparison were “weapons of mass destruction”.

but I’ve never even been to New Orleans.

You really missed something when it was in full swing. I never saw Ella Fitzgerald sing, so I've missed things I shouldn't have as well. "A Confederacy of Dunces" is one of my favorite books also. I think Ron Paul is no more suited to be President than the characters in the book.
