Eh... they've got the bit in their teeth though. Facts and cogent thought are no part of it once they get going.
Huck sucks for a variety of reasons. Hunter is still my Number 1 candidate...

Ron Paul hasn’t got a chance of winning the Presidency the electoral system is designed to weed out extremists of any stripe but it would be fun if he did. It would be highly entertaining to see a genuine outsider sitting in the Big Chair.
(Keep in mind, however, that any President is only as powerful as he is allowed to be by Congress and their masters in the Bohemian Club. Even a President Paul could only do so much.)
As many of you know, I am a monarchist. I think the whole nose-counting thing is a crazy way to run a country. In my opinion, we’d be better off just picking a couple of Social Security numbers out of a fishbowl every four years and making the selected SSN holders President and Vice-President. We could hardly do worse picking a President by pure chance than we have by voting over the years!
But I digress. Would I vote for Rep. Paul? Hell, no. I’m writing in Cobra Commander, as I do every Election Day. I’m just saying it would be interesting to see a fringe candidate win the Oval Office whether a Right Liberal extremist like Paul, a Left Liberal extremist like Kucinich, or even a full-on nutjob like Phred Felps. Having a genuine bulging-eyed foamer in the White House would never be dull!
The system needs an enema. Let’s put the hose where it belongs in the Oval Orifice! Elect Ron Paul in 2008!

Just wow! Guess this guy should actually figure out where the founders got their ideas for our freedoms and founding this country from and what the founders said would happen to this countries freedoms once Christianity was gone.
What an idiot.

No, he's not, nor is he selling fascism. Ron Paul didn't say he was, either. Paul thinks we should be cautious when someone says they are God's candidate, because it makes it easier for politicians to get their agenda put into law, regardless of whether that agenda should be law. I agree.

Do you think Huckabee is a fascist?I wouldn't use the exact term "fascist," but given his flatly-stated desire for higher taxes, more welfare and even having the government tell you what to eat, Ron Paul's not far off when he says fascists will try to sucker you by wrapping themselves in the Flag and waving the Cross.

Ron Paul: 'When fascism comes it will be wrapped in a flag and carrying a cross'. When Ron Paul's big day comes he and his followers will be wrapped in straight jackets and carrying their own bed pans.

This may prompt a new chapter for my book.Let me know when it's published. I'd be interested in seeing the supporting evidence. Particularly the part that says a rebellion or "revolution" never adopts the symbols of righteousness until after it succeeds, and that revolution and rebellion are never against fascism.

What will fascism be wrapped in if/when it comes?
A flag with a crescent and star?

I’ll say this much, if Mike Huckabee represents Christianity, then I’ll take a pass.

Ron Paul didn't say he was, either. Paul thinks we should be cautious when someone says they are God's candidate, because it makes it easier for politicians to get their agenda put into law, regardless of whether that agenda should be law. I agree. Then he should have said that, though I haven't seen Huckabee claim to be God's candidate. Words have meanings, and in the real world fascism implies authoritarian control and persecution.
I see nothing in Huckabees background to make me think hed be a tyrant.

Yep, and Greenspan really worked out great. Out of fairness, he wasn’t a torchbearer at any of the “collective’s” kangaroo courts purges.
To: mnehrling
In the past, it has wrapped itself in a rebellion or 'revolution' against the existing powers.Boy are you wrong. Fascism or any totalitarian regime has always been based on a monopoloy of state power, not a rebellion against state power. Look at Hitler, Mussolini or Lenin, each with its received spiritual orthodoxy, each wrapped in the flag of the motherland.

Ron Pauls a nutty version of Ross PerotRoss Perot set the standard for tinfoilism. Remember when he claimed the FBI tried to ruin his daughter's wedding? I believe his campaign nosedived after that.

And Mike has made the suggestion that God is on his side. I get a little antsy when a politician tells me I should agree with him because God will punish me for eternity if I don't do what the politician says.
I'm waiting for
Tax Hike Mike to scourge the moneychangers from a Temple (maybe near the Great Salt Lake) and proceed to have James Dobson annoint his head with oil.
Has Huck ever admitted he was lying when he said "I am the only man on this stage with a degree in theology"? Seems to me that if he's God's prophet, he would stop lying about his degree which is in religion, not in theology.
I think RP was on target here with his Sinclair Lewis reference. People are acting like we're electing a pope, not selecting a GOP nominee.
