RALEIGH - No, you're not imagining things. That really is a Ron Paul for President blimp flying over the City of Raleigh today.
Organizers for the blimp took off this morning at 8am at the Airship Management Hangar in Elizabeth City, North Carolina and they are on their way to Chester, South Carolina where they will make their first stop.
This afternoon, the blimp will be flying over north Raleigh and will most likely be visible from Interstate 540 at some point, said Bryce Henderson, a media coordinator for the effort.
Organizers say the current schedule has it passing over Raleigh at 1 pm, Greensboro at 3pm, Charlotte at 5pm and landing in Chester, SC around 6pm. The blimp will spend the night in Chester and then head to Columbia, South Carolina in the morning.
Organizers say that the public can follow along on the inaugural trip as the blimps coordinates are relayed to www.ronpaulblimp.com via GPS and a live camera feed will also be inside the blimps cabin, broadcasting events in real time to www.justin.tv.
Organizers cautioned that the are assuming weather conditions are agreeable.
"Simply to take the blimp out of the hanger requires the wind speed to be under 15 knots," said orgnizers in a statement to the media.
Supporter for Ron Paul, who is running for President on the Republican ballot, raised the close to $300,000 necessary to place the advertisement on the blimp. Ron Paul has been in the news quite a bit lately as a candidate who has gained much momentum via the Internet. His supporters recently made over $4 million in campaign donations in one day at his website.
Trevor Lyman, who was one of the key figures behind the massive Ron Paul fundraising effort, also helped organize the blimp trip and will be on board.

Oh my.. One of my space shuttle pilots is in the picture of the banner being made!
He is also involved in getting a smaller hot air ship for the Paul campaign to use. He is the first one on the left. He isn't interested in politics at all. Just money.

I listened to the same morons preaching back when Reagan was in Office. I ran a dial up BBS back in those days, in DC. It was called "AppleVenture" - and we had several political boards that had more than 1000 users from around the US, Canada and the occasional European( I know 1000 doesn't sound like a lot, but it was 1983 or so when the Libertarians started bigtime attacks).
I listened to them preach about things like "it should be ok to smoke pot in your own home".... and "Why do we have Stop signs?" and a whole LOT of other idiotic, inane postings.
So, yeah, I came into the "Libertarian" argument, probably long before many of you ever HEARD of a Libertarian or identified yourself with that group. Certainly they have toned down their rhetoric over the years but one thing remains the same, it doesn't MATTER who is in office, Democrat or Republican, they ATTACK either side equally.
They have KOOKS running for office.
They BELIEVE they will change the system (overnight) and REDUCE the DOMESTIC government quickly and efficiently, while perhaps getting rid of taxes completely.
They BELIEVE that anyone that questions them is a criminal to some degree (hypocrisy) because we can't "see their point of view".
No, Sir, I do not LIE to myself. I see things for what they really are.
Forty years ago, Republicans weren't for small government, they were mainly for ONLY BUSINESS and they didn't CARE because they could easily control government with money. My family was Democrat in those days, believed in the Constitution, gun rights, the Bill of Rights.
Over time, those same people are still there, including my Dad who is a Democrat (registered) and has precisely the same VALUE system I have. Believing in the bill of Rights, guns, etc. But he VOTES for the correct man, just as I do.
He says Ron Paul is a kook and an anarchist.
Wow. Democrats and Republicans actually AGREE on something.
I can't see how you twist common sense, constitutionally limited government into anarchy. You seem to be exhibiting intellectual dishonesty
I'm not twisting such a thing at all. I'm talking about the founding points of Libertarianism.... ANYONE who wants to work COMMON SENSE into the government is great by me, anyone that wishes to shrink government is great by me.
I already said that Paul had good ideas there, he ought to just keep his mouth shut on all the other stuff.

And we worked with Stalin to defeat Hitler.
Ron Paul thinks that if we just walk away and don’t make them angry, everything will be all right. He is a dangerous and naive fool.
Yes, I agree with him regarding the Constitution. He would be a great defender of it and of our liberties. But there will be no Constitution if we run away and hide.

" I could not vote for someone who will not stand up to Americas enemies." It's even worse than that, he echoes enemy propaganda.

Ive never voted for a democrat in my life. My first vote cast was for Bush 1 in 1988. I was president of the College Republicans at ODU from 1992-1993, I served on the Republican Party of Portsmouth from 94 until 96...I could go on but you get the picture. Im not a liar. Youre just rude a-hole. The Paul threads are full of haters who are full of themselves. I'm glad to have you on board. I'm a Paul supporter but I don't bash the other candidates. Fred Thompson or Duncan Hunter would be my 2nd choices. I know all the candidates are trying to sound more and more like Paul on everything except the war. I have to give it to Paul though, cuz he's been there along and he'll be there in the end. I think most of his supporters are what makes this country great. Their enthusiasm is to be admired.
Flame on haters.

BWAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA. That “Peacemonger” sign says it all. Let’s just get along. Let’s be nice to them. Let’s just stay at home and not make them mad.
If Ronald Reagan were alive to see that sign, he would walk over there, rip it up, and kick the guy’s utopian *ss.

He joined the site as a disgruntled Republican.
Well, that makes him a liar? I think 90% of people on FR are disgruntled with the big spending liberals in the Republican party, its why we lost the last election, IMO. Thompson is my second choice, he is a federalist on many issues and fairly conservative (with unfortunate many failings as has been pointed out), and many Ron Paul supporters and libertarian minded folks have fair opinions of Fred. Also trancredo, as many RP supporters like Paul's radical position on birthright citizenship. So I don't see how this is all that farfetched, I'm not saying you need to 100% believe the man, just don't call him a liar.

How about “Get real!!!”
I cannot get past Ron Paul’s belief in 9/11 conspiracy theories. No way should Paul be in a position of power. I would NOT vote for him for dog catcher.

I used to be a Thompson supporter, but after the poor showing at the debate, I've had enough of him.We can always use a good laugh around here. Thanks!

I hear it from leftists every day. “I was for the war in Afghanistan, but........” Geopolitically, Ron Paul is a fool. We have interests that go beyond our borders. This isn’t 230 years ago. It would have been better had he lived 230 years ago.
