NEW YORK, December 10, 2007 (LifeSiteNews.com) - The Terri Schindler Schiavo Foundation and Priests for Life have jointly announced the establishment of the "International Day of Prayer and Remembrance for Terri Schindler Schiavo, and All of Our Vulnerable Brothers and Sisters" ("Terri's Day"), to be observed each year on March 31, the date of Terri's death.
The purpose of the day, the groups explained, is to foster education, prayer, and activism regarding discrimination against the disabled, and advocacy for people in situations similar to what Terri and her family faced.
Fr. Frank Pavone said, "Those of us who were with Terri will never forget her life and her death. For the sake of all the vulnerable, it is critically important that those who never knew Terri likewise remember the lessons that God taught us through her."
Suzanne Vitadamo, Terri's sister, adds, "No family should ever have to witness what my family witnessed, watching a loved one slowly dehydrate to death. We want Terri's day to remind us all that persons with disabilities are never burdens and should be treated with nothing but our unconditional love and compassion."
In the early weeks of 2008, educational and prayer materials will be released that can be used by parishes, disability and pro-life groups and all communities to observe Terri's Day.

Having this future healthcare conversation is the first step. Once families are clear on the care and decisions a family member has made, the next step is to get those wishes in writing. "When families are aware of a loved ones wishes, it helps, but it is not enough to keep difficult healthcare decisions out of the legal system and out of the media spotlight, as we saw with Terri Schiavo," warns Kenemore. My Life, My Care, My Way allows an individual to get their wishes in writing.............

For any who have not seen this before, we watched the original slip and said, "Uh Ohhh!" The media would not let go of it, Terri being an albatross on their necks more than most would appreciate. Sure enough the MSM glued it to Fred Thompson's candidacy and keeps up the reminders on almost a daily basis ever since. Here is the latest in Time as reported in, uh, well, India, actually preoccupied with the Obama Nation pun of punjab jab...

Schiavo, who lived in a persistent vegetative state for 15 years after suffering brain damage in Feb 1990, died in March 2005 when her feeding tube was removed after a prolonged legal battle. Some have since maintained that her death constituted "judicial murder".

Yep, they have a real unusual concept of doling out justice down in Florida:

"Several months later," Eduardo continues, "I received a phone call from the man I met with the pregnant lady in front of the abortion center. He said, 'Hello Eduardo - this is Javier, and I have great news. My boy was born yesterday! I want to thank you and ask your permission - I would like to name him, Eduardo.'"
"I just put the phone down - I couldn't even talk," Eduardo says. "It's the most emotional thing I've ever done in my life. It changed my life. It was beautiful. I went to the hospital to meet them and see the baby. A few weeks later, I was holding little Eduardito in my hands. It was beautiful!"

Good thing Elian didn’t try to give Terri a drink of water...
Nah, Elian WANTED to live in a police state, he wasn’t a lawbreaker, he was relieved to see an assault team coming to rescue him.
The race for the Republican nomination for president is up in the air and plausible scenarios exist whereby several candidates have a realistic shot at receiving the GOP nod. While the former New York City mayor is one of those candidates, I'm willing to go out on a limb and make a bold prediction: Rudy Giuliani will not be the Republican nominee.

I know when I was young I would have loved to be in a land surrounded by 55 Chevys and cars people call antique these days. And be right next to my dad, Fidel. After all, it is all about father’s rights, no? And Fidel is the pops all right. Besides happiness is overrated when one can learn to love poverty and misery. But maybe his other father, Janet Reno will come visit in case he gets too happy.
Police were parked across the street from where Dan Holman of Missionaries to the Pre-Born was standing on a public sidewalk on December 7, when a man in a pickup truck got out of his vehicle and approached Holman with a club, shouting at him to get off his property. Holman was attacked and struck with the club.
The man continued to try and assault me in the presence of three Fort Madison police officers, Holman told Operation Rescue. Rather than arresting the attacker the police threatened to arrest me! The police acknowledged that I was on a public right of way but said our presence posed a traffic hazard.

In emails to LifeNews.com and public posts on her web site, Maxam also made it clear she has contempt for other pro-life news sources that cover the Terri Schiavo saga. It appears Maxam wants a stranglehold on reporting on Terri and the debate that still exists about euthanasia that received national prominence because of her plight.
The Schindlers and everyone else in the pro-life community understand that Terri's death was about much more than Terri and that is why they have decided to start a day of remembrance for her. It's not about "investigative journalism" or "getting even" or making money, it's about sparing others the tragedy they endured.
We are in this for the cause. People like Terri Schiavo deserve to live. When their right to life is abrogated by abortion, euthanasia or embryonic stem cell research, whether some people like it or not, LifeNews.com will tell the story that the mainstream media often refuses to report or covers up with biased or inaccurate stories.
As the celebration of our Lord's birth approaches, I am reminded of how He so eloquently carried on the Jewish tradition of "telling stories" and I think that is what those who reported have done. They told us Terri's story, she became real to us all, she became more than a statistic, more than an anonymous victim of the culture of death, she became the face of hope and passion.
Okay, so if Fidel and Janet are Elian’s fathers, then who is his mother . . . on second thought I’m not sure I want to know.
I think I will go outside and sit in a snowdrift until my head reboots.
LMAO!
And what was this you said, “I was young I would have loved to be in a land surrounded by 55 Chevys.” I’m pretty sure they were still finalizing the design of the Model T when YOU were young! (just kidding)
The timing is fitting as we recall, the event ending Terri's life matched apace with Easter, Holy week, and with sometimes incredible parallels.
My dream car was a 56 Chevy or a Ford Crown Victoria in pink and black, but that was way beyond my means. Dad would slip me a dollar for the weekend date but I would have to bring back the change. My buddy and I figured out how to save money, so we took our dates to the passion pit (drive in theater for those younger than I..) and we put our girl friends in the trunk to save some money. But then we got caught and had to tell the authorities we didn't know the girls. After that they didn't want to go out with us anymore and wouldn't even say why.
Wimmin!
LMAO!
It’s so wonderful to see many of those who fought for Terri, both on line and off, here in this thread.
I will never forget the horror of that time...never.
Don’t forget about Tori Schmanski. She is very similiar to Terri Schiavo and there is a large and growing movement for recovery in a small reagion of Utah. Tori gets lots of support.
A remarkable similarity between Michael and Drew and more than just in physical appearance.
University of Florida quarterback Tim Tebow became the first sophomore in the history of the NCAA to win the coveted Heisman Trophy as the best football player in the nation. However, Tebow's accomplishments may never have been supported had his mother followed a doctor's recommendation to have an abortion. With 29 passing touchdowns and 22 rushing touchdowns, Tebow displayed the kind of versatility that has become more valued at the quarterback position.
