I'm no longer going to answer you.

If you can not be a responsible person.

Have a great life.

"I did my DTS at YWAM Denver and Dale Lambert was my DTS school leader. I witnessed all kinds of insanity. Men would be making out with other men in the hallways, listening to all kinds of “metal music”(non-christian), smoke pot with each other while off base, there were rumors of sexual activity, both hetero and homosexual"

This is your personal account of your experiences? Wow. I never went there. I'm glad.

"Based on his reporting hearing voices, the kid was likely simply a paranoid schizophrenic, which, while complex, is basically a chemical imbalance. Most schizophrenics aren’t dangerous; some, unfortunately, are"

Exactly. My brother suffers from it and is always looking up the newest research and treatments for it. Like many paranoid schizophrenics, he falls off the treatment wagon frequently, but at least he attempts to be pro-active about his condition.

I can't tell you the agony of blame my mother went through for years after he was diagnosed. I believe I helped her get over the worst of that, using simple facts of our family over the years, but she still blames herself. Just not as totally as she once did.

OK, First, I obviously do not know if he was being honest about all the things he describes. However, I will say the following...

As a parent, and a Christian, I have seen families who do take some of these things too far, IMHO. That are too strict with their children, and hence, run the risk of them completely disregarding those teachings when they have a chance to make their own choices — precisely because they have not been exposed to it, and haven’t been afforded the opportunity to discuss the reasons WHY these things are bad influences, etc...

As a parent I rarely say an absolute “NO, NEVER” to my children — in fact, the Golden Compass movie/book is the first where I have said — absolutely NO, NEVER, EVER, but I also spent time explaining exactly WHY, and hopefully in doing so with this and other things I’ve given them the ability to make decisions for themselves in the future when I am not there to guide them...

I’m happy to try and make a simple summary if you’ll tell me what part you’d like me to do that with.

Thanks for your kind words about the CAPS! LOL.

Let me try it this way:

1. He may have had a biochemical and/or genetic mental “illness.” I’m skeptical that IF he had such—that such internal influences were the critical problem.

2. The critical problems were the emotional/ physical/ and/or sexual abuse REPORTEDLY [by him on his blog] that he suffered in his childhood. I do not ASSUME that everything he said in his blog was reality. I also do NOT assume that 0.000% was reality. There was SOME reality there.

3. Probably his IQ and emotional sensitivity . . . set him up for intense anger early on . . . his perceptiveness regarding hypocrisies around him in the family and Christian circles he was exposed to would only increase his frustration and anger.

4. Add in homosexual tendencies and behaviors and guilt therefrom.

5. Add in real and/or perceived rejection from an absent workaholic father [possibly, probably?]

6. HYPOTHETICAL, THEORETICAL POSSIBILITY: Add in emotional and possibly worse incestuousness from evidently, supposedly physically punnishing mommy dearest . . .

. . .

There’s more than enough fodder for very crazy behavior in just the things mentioned above—WITHOUT ANY GENETIC, BIO-CHEMICAL MENTAL “ILLNESS.”

In short, I don’t know the degree of any such possible genetic, bio-chemical illness. I’m not at all convinced that if the relationship and demonic stuff were resolved and healed that he’d have any genetic/bio-chemical illness left of any great intensity.

"imho, it is clear that he had at least a significant demonic problem of above average proportions. Medication and therapy will NOT solve that problem by a long shot. Some such can even make such a problem worse"

Ah. Sorry I missed this part of your post; my eyeballs are rebelling against an overheating brain. This is true, and my statment wasn't meant as a recommendation of treatment, but es an example that he seemed to be on the wrong meds, which is as bad as no meds if thee IS a treatment for your condition. As I said to the poster I was replying to, sometimes there IS no help for people.

Whether his demons were personal real or both, I agree he had a serious demonic problem.

I tried. I started out that way, but progressed to “no”. As my sons became teens I added “because I said so, and finally “ what part of no, do you not understand?”

I agree that there appears to be a genetic predisposition to schizophrenia that can be very powerful.

I do think that schizophrenia still seems to be more of a ‘catch-all’ diagnosis for very complex collections of dynamics and behaviors.

I don’t think anyone has a flawless handle on what percentage of things are truly genetic/bio-chemical and what are relational, early conditioning etc.

Most don’t care—give a med and move on seems to be the attitude.

In many cases, that’s the best that can be done anyway.

I should check out A MORE EXCELLENT WAY on the issue.

LOL.. You did just fine, even for being tired. And, I agree with what you are saying here... Within this incident — which has its horrible parts — there are also definite positives. And, all of it goes back to G-d. This person was intent on shattering faith, but instead he has made it stronger — at least for me...

. . . to . . . ‘kids’ . . .

Dear heart,

Most of the time, when I have energy, time and an inclination to bother—I will TRY and explain my priorities and decisions on limits on your life, time and behavior.

Sometimes I won’t. And I may not even have an explanation about why I don’t have an explanation.

It is my duty to help prepare you for . . . drum roll . . .

LIFE.

Many times life has NO EXPLANATION. Actually, rather often.

Bosses are not often inclined to explain their decisions. They just expect immediate compliance WITH A GOOD ATTITUDE.

Sadly, you are not yet ready for that aspect of the real world and work. So I need to intensify my efforts to get you more ready. Expect less explanations and more attention to your attitude REGARDLESS in the near future.

Your attitude is YOUR responsibility regardless of what life hands you. YOUR ATTITUDE can determine YOUR LIFE OR DEATH in a variety of circumstances.

So, I beg of you your cooperation as I begin more earnestly to help train and shape your ability to monintor and control your attitude REGARDLESS of frustrations, limits, disappointments, dreams, fantasies, lusts, rebellions or whatever else.

I value your life and want you to live as fully and as long as possible. Therefore, I MUST make attitude management a greatly increased priority IN OUR RELATIONSHIP and in your life.

Any questions?

In many respects, this issue will be an open issue for some time to come.

However, many aspects are NOT NEGOTIABLE.

Some are not even discussable. On those aspects, the DISCUSSION is closed. Your duty is a FINE ATTITUDE REGARDLESS anyway. Is that clear?

Remember . . . your life may depend on it.

#############

Of course, if one has been training and loving well from infancy on, such a declaration may be minimized or even unnecessary.

Waiting to try at age 16 is begging for disaster.
