BY modern American standards it was a very minor crisis, but a bizarre hostage-taking episode at one of Hillary Clintons presidential campaign offices in New Hampshire on Friday offered the former first lady an unexpected opportunity to display her leadership qualities.
Clinton was far from the scene and never at risk from a mentally unstable man who eventually surrendered to police after holding three campaign workers hostage. Yet her calm demeanour and authoritative response to a potentially ugly drama was yesterday earning her widespread praise.
Clinton followed the incident from her home in Washington, then flew to New Hampshire to meet the workers once they were released. A local man identified as Leeland Eisenberg was taken into custody and the bomb he claimed to have strapped to his chest turned out to be warning flares.
The incident followed a series of bitter exchanges among presidential candidates of both parties over who is the best equipped to lead America at a time of terrorist threats. Clinton has been mocked for suggesting that her experience as first lady qualified her for the presidency. She has never run anything, noted Mitt Romney, the former Republican governor of Massachusetts.
Yet several campaign analysts noted yesterday that Clinton did not put a foot wrong as the hostage drama unfolded. There was a sense that this was a dress rehearsal of how she was going to deal with . . . [a] crisis as president, noted Robert Thompson, a media specialist at Syracuse University.
Larry Sabato, director of the University of Virginia Center for Politics, told the Politico.com website that Hillary managed to look and sound presidential as she joined police at a New Hampshire press conference.

Very valid point. I remember when the Pubbie Congresswoman was asked the name of the last constituent killed in Iraq. The Pubbie answered honestly that she didn't know. The reporter then states the name, the name of a hero that actually wasn't a constituent of the Congresswoman. An obvious "Gotcha!" moment.
If Hillary had been asked your pair of questions an instant outcry from pols, MSM would be broadcast from sea to shining sea.
Well I think she is a bully & I don’t know how much I really believe this whole thing. I don’t care if it seems strange to wonder but after all the bodies etc why can’t I wonder if this whole thing was a bunch of bs?
Post 1 should have the caption: “We’ve taped our cheat sheets to the inside of our eyelids so no one will know.”
I don’t know. There are plenty of nutcases out there. Hillary is the BS IMNHO.

For as much as the left HATES Jesus they try to make Hillary Jesus at every turn.
Not only did she do nothing about it...I assert that she was glad it happened and is busy trying to harness its emotional power. Once more proving she is the empties pantsuit in history but brilliantat manipulation of ignorant left wing masses.
And best of all, it got the attention off Bill’s stupid war comments.
End of story. Just a bizarro take by the fawning MSM.
She didn’t fly to NH because she knew the psycho had been secured. She flew to NH because she knew the press had been secured.
...even though SHE WASN'T!
To be fair, would any of us (who were alive then) want to be remembered for what we wore in the ‘70s? The whole decade was a sartorial disaster, blending from hippie to disco.
A decade or so ago, bell bottoms made a brief fad comeback. I said not just no, but hell, no. I survived that once, and I’m not going back there, man. Because, to paraphrase Yoda, bell bottoms lead to open shirts with gold medallions. Medallions lead to leisure suits. Leisure suits lead to suffering. So take your desert boots and Hush Puppies down the road. We’ve done that here, and we’re long since over it.
Your picture of Bill and Hill doesn’t look all that dissimilar from pics I have of my mom and dad. Though they were shorter than the Clintons. If you didn’t experience the 1970s on the ground, you don’t know what it was like. It was hell, I’m telling you. HELL! For the love of God, you have no idea how wide the lapels were! Oh, and the mirror balls. And the gimmicks — the Limelight, Atlanta’s answer to Studio 54, had a plexiglass dance floor with live sharks circling beneath.
The horror ... the horror ...
Eventually.
When the compound and its occupants were reduced to ash, it got real damn peaceful.
The cops advised against talking to the hostage-taker, because it could escalate the situation. Hilary took that advice. It was the right call.
Does that mean she should be president? Of course not. But trying to turn this incident against her is a waste of effort that would be better spent elsewhere.
This freak was more than into bell bottoms and long scraggly locks. He was a bonafide protected draft dodger.
Which is why I posted the picture. While most Americans his age were wearin the Big Green , this POS was token and joken at Oxford in Britain. And he should never have been president for that very reason among many others. That one alone should have been enough.
Likewise Hillary doesn't even know what true service to her country really is.
