Democrats punish Michigan for early primary (strip state of delegates)
MSNBC ^ | 12/1/07

VIENNA, Va. - Democratic leaders voted Saturday to strip Michigan of all its delegates to the national convention next year as punishment for scheduling an early presidential primary in violation of party rules.

Michigan, with 156 delegates, has scheduled a Jan. 15 primary. Democratic Party rules prohibit states other than Iowa, New Hampshire, Nevada and South Carolina from holding nominating contests before Feb. 5.

Florida was hit with a similar penalty in August for scheduling a Jan. 29 primary.

Michigan officials anticipated the action by the Democratic National Committee's rules panel. But Michigan Democratic Chairman Mark Brewer said before the vote that he didn't think the delegates would be lost for good. He expects the Democratic presidential nominee will insist the state's delegates be seated at the convention.

Why do we even have States anymore? We’ve moved to a strong central government. The States have no reason to exist. Are they just the farm team for politicians in training?

If we just call a spade a spade, admit to ourselves that the ‘states rights’ issue was decided long ago, and dump the states’ governments we could save a lot of money. All that electricity, all that grass to cut ... /sarc off

No, this is because they knew that RATs would stay in the Democrat primary if they had an option for “Not Hillary” (not committed).

Now they are free to go vote in the GOP Primary for Ron Paul or someone.

They moved up their primaries in an attempt to gain significance. Of course, being typical liberals, the rules don’t apply to them, and they don’t expect any long term consequences from their self-centered actions... The liberal Dems in microcosm...

this move would really tick off their voters

The nutroots base (see my tagline) is already bitter with the DINO's who haven't impeached Bushitler and Darth Cheney and ended the unfair, unjust, blah, blah, blah war in Iraq.

The whole movement is probably driven by a bunch of Louisianians who are ticked at the rumors that they are losing their coach to the Michigan Wolverines.

Thanks for posting your great summary. I was thinking of Hugo, Castro or IMANUTJOB being in charge of the rat party:

“The “Democratic leaders” get to decide who can vote and when they can vote?

Doesn’t sound very “democratic” to me.

Maybe the DNC should call in Hugo Chavez for advice on how to run an election.”

Hilliary’s strategy is, win anyway she can. Obama is no fool,
Bill and Hillary must have stepped on lots of toes over the years just waiting for a chance to give back. Play in the mud and you get dirty.

It’s am OZ maneuver. Unless they really are looking to attempt and “illegitimate” presidency.

STAFF MEETING (dems)

Ok. What states are we gonna be weak in?

We have to strip their votes away, if they aren’t gonna just fall in line for us.

Florida?
Michigan?
Where else? Please raise your hand.

“it establishes a precedent for the elimination of all elections, thus destroying the entire representative Republic form of government/elections we’re supposed to have.”

And they if you turn up the heat slowly, the frogs get cooked and never notice.

There is also a darker motive to this...Mich may be Obama country: UAW, big Muslim population...and Florida just may be too Rep for the Dums to stomach so they cut them off.....They’ll be ok with Wisc though—cause the Limburger smells soo good to them...

THe DNC leaders look worse and worse everyday-The D party, as in Discrimination...

Way to go dum Rats !

They must let the moonbat eastern states pick the nominee first so Michigan can choose between Hillary and throwing their delegates away.

Hillary has set it up. She’s the only one on the ticket. At the convention, if she needs the delegates, they will be included for her.

It can get even darker...If they can eliminate the party pros in several different States, Hitlery can then nominate Billy Bob to be her VP....

Write that down Howard.....NOW!

That party believes in central control of everything!

&&&&&

That is all we need to say to our acquaintances who still believe the traditiional reputation of the “party of the people.”

Their convention may be as rewarding as the 1968 and 1972 conventions were for the Democrat party. Infighting is SO productive!!!!

It’s amusing to watch the Democrats accuse the GOP of disenfranchising voters - then they turn around and disenfranchise all of their voters in an entire state.
