I always thought it was unfair when Sowell and Walter Williams were together—like they were once when WW was subbing for Rush and Sowell was his guest. Unfair that they are smarter than everyone else. But then I read the Winston Churchill used to hang out with Einstien. So that couple was also to the right side of the Bell Curve!
Jazusamo, are you a jazz buff?

Once again, the Dr. of all things nails it.
The laxing of admissions standards over the past 30 years in favor of numbers has definitely taken the toll on the credibility of academia. Most notably, in the critical thinking department. Which is why we now have so many in Universities who will readily lap up leftist professorial drivel without questioning the veracity it in any way shape or form.
One has to wonder if this was in the plan all along. Please tell me if I’m off base in any way.

“When I taught an honors class in introductory economics at Cornell — a seminar with 15 students, compared to a couple of hundred students in the regular class — my department chairman urged me to expand the honors class to 30 students, “so that more students can get the advantage of the small class.”
It never seemed to occur to him that expanding the class would destroy the advantages of the small seminar. “
Too good!

I am back in school after some time away. I, too, wonder why some of these people are even there. It seems that a large number of the 75% (which is being generous) of people who bother to show up for class would rather be anywhere other than there. Half of them either won't shut up so others can here, or are texting on their cell phones or surfing the web on their laptops. I really wish the teachers would kick their butts out so that the few who are actually trying to learn can do so.
I guess that is what happens when you have lottery scholarships, pell grants, easy access school loans, etc. Since they aren't paying for it (or at least, not yet) they really don't care about it.
