IT'S hard for Hollywood pacifists like Brian De Palma to capture the hearts and minds of America if Americans won't see their movies.
While the public is staying away in droves from Rendition," Lions for Lambs" and In the Valley of Elah," audiences are really avoiding Redacted," De Palma's picture about US soldiers who rape a 14-year-old Iraqi girl, then kill her and her family.

If this movie get an Oscar Nomination I’d be shocked.
Sucks to be De Palma and Cuban!
I doubt too many theaters are going to jump on that band wagon.
Congratulations American Public, even though the theaters were probably picked with an eye toward more liberal audiences, this film collapsed in on itself. Love it!
I checked the cinefile site imdb.com, and found more good news about this film. In San Fransisco, it played at the Landmark Embarcadero Cinema, which is owned by none other than Mark Cuban, and was pulled from the theater after only one week.
IT EVEN FLOPPED IN SAN FRANSISCO!!!!
LOL!

One of my favorite “Goldwynisms.” Thanks!
Yeah, where are all the anti-war types? You’d think they’d be flocking to these movies in droves.
Pretty bad when your target audience ignores your film.
Unfortunately these movies will rake in the cash big time between overseas screenings, and sales of DVDs.
I’m just hoping for wide-spread DVD pirating to steal away some of the profits.

Not really... To us, it's "a lot." To a billionaire, it's a couple hours of interest or dividend income.
What I'd like to see is a serious backlash against his more profitable ventures... Like if people began staying away from basketball games, and if his team were to lose its corporate sponsorships. Now THAT might make a difference.

Or the great "Yogi-ism" (as in Yogi Bera) -

Ha! When I first read the title, I saw the ‘k’ but was thinking ‘m’! I now have renewed faith in my fellow citizens.
Wow, Mr. Cuban must be deliriously happy his movie did so well! /s
LOL
I love Yogi Berra too.
One of my favorite stories (and I have to be careful because some of the ones out there aren’t true): Mr. Berra walked into someone’s hotel room. The tv was playing a Steve McQueen movie. Mr. Berra saw it and said, “Steve McQueen. He must have made that movie before he died.”
I saw Enchanted on Friday as well...LOVED it!!! I highly recommend seeing it. Newbies, to the big screen, Patrick Dempsey and Amy Adams were just wonderful. Amy was just perfect, IMO, as the quintessential Princess...and I am a sucker for a big splashy production number. I hope this one does really well...great entertainment!
Something like Enchanted or the Bee Movie would be more my speed. These days, when I go to the movies, I want entertainment. I don’t want politics.
"..Cuban offered to sell the film back to De Palma at cost, but the director was too smart to go for that deal..."
LoL!
So, has anybody kicked DePalma or Cuban in the nuts yet?
Took my kids and enjoyed it very much. Harmless, fun, and well-done.
Definitely see it. You'll probably like it more than she will ... there are lots of inside jokes meant for humans rather than kids ... but she'll like it.
