IT'S hard for Hollywood pacifists like Brian De Palma to capture the hearts and minds of America if Americans won't see their movies.
While the public is staying away in droves from Rendition," Lions for Lambs" and In the Valley of Elah," audiences are really avoiding Redacted," De Palma's picture about US soldiers who rape a 14-year-old Iraqi girl, then kill her and her family.

If this crappy movie is nominated even once...I WILL boycott he Academy Awards..which won’t be difficult because every year it gets more cloying and annoying. In fact, the past several years I just TIVO it and fast forward to the big awards. I just can’t stand these people fawning all over each other...now they congratulate each other for how political astute they are....oy.
I've heard these films aren't doing well abroad, either. Movies usually need some US buzz to do well overseas. And who will watch this junk on TV? They can show it 24 hours a day but no one will watch it.
They don’t give a damn about how it doees here..wait until the foreign receipt come in...it’ll be the hit of the year. Just watch.
Terrorists will be outraged they didn’t stone the girl after they raped her. Nice to see Mark go to Cuban lost his $$ and will be a disgrace in Dallas over this hitjob on our troops. Couldn’t happen to a better egomaniac.
Pray for W and Our Troops
Hollyweird remains out of touch with America.
An estimated $29,300,000 through Friday.
Here’s another reason to boycott the Oscars: my Larry the Cable Guy movie, “Witless Protection”, will be opening in theaters on Oscar weekend.
We don’t trash our heroes in uniform...!
LOL. If ho-wood doesn't get its act together, movie advertisers will need to copy and paste your wonderful marketing blurb into most of their movie ads.
AND, be nominated for the Nobel.
She and I saw Hairspray on the plane back from Philly a few weeks ago, and as much as I wanted NOT to like it, I found it thoroughly enjoyable. Marsden was great as the Corny Collins (?) and John Travolta was as fun to watch as always.
Slow sales in US, but think of the euros to be made in overseas sales!
But think how much money it will make when realeased in Arabic and Persian.
Yeah, the Euroweenies are going to just love it. These days, foreign distribution has become more and more important for the Hollywood left.
You know they are desparate when it went onto On Demand this weekend at twice the rate of other Just In! movies.
IMHO, they are trying to grab as much cash as they can before the word gets out too much about what a piece of garbage it really is...(please excuse the dangling participle)
The derision dumped on the war porn movies gives Hollywood pause. Many antiwar actors, who were previously box office drawers, are not now bankable: Clooney, Penn, Cuzak, Sarandon and her goofy husband, Afleck, Hoffman, et. al. Clooney, in particular, is now reduced to being Brad Pitts butt boy to make a buck.
I think the unorganized boycott of left wing actors is having its affect. I think we’ll see a new crop who will not be willing to forfeit their careers by abusing their celebrity with left wing politics.
As for De Palma. He should be spit on whenever seen in public for his slanderous, traitorous movie. Make him the poster boy of dead career walking.
You are marvelous!
(I think we paid half of that between tickets and popcorn!)
Normally I’m a “24” type person.
Hairspray was just too happy for words. It runs continuously in my house with two “Zac” fans.
Now, Enchanted is like a trivia puzzle. For little girls, I heard tons of “I want to be Giselle!” walking out of the theater. For moms, it’s looking at the live action references to all the classics. Birds wrapping her in a towel or retying her bow type stuff. I think someone said there are 20 different scenes from the classics that were redone in live action. I caught more the second time than the first.
However, I have to say that I was happy my husband didn’t go with us for two reasons. First, he is pretty anti-disney and doesn’t know the classics like I do. Second, I could stare at Marsden and not have to worry about what he thought.
Hey, I’m allowed to look.
It was only available for a few days...
