The Club for Growth opposes Congressman Hunter

Since Congressman Duncan Hunter (R-CA) is apparently going to explore the possibility of running for president in 2008, I thought I'd dig up some of his roll call votes. Like most Republicans, he's strong on tax cuts, but he's been part of the big government spending spree of the last 6 years. He also has a protectionist streak in him. Here are some of the more troubling votes:
NO on NAFTA
YES on No Child Left Behind
YES on Sarbanes-Oxley
YES on the 2003 Medicare Drug Benefit
NO on CAFTA
YES on 2005 Highway Bill
YES on the 527 bill (like most Republicans, he flip-flopped, having first voted NO on McCain-Feingold)
Hunter also went 0 for 19 on the Flake anti-pork amendments.
Despite being a member of the Republican Study Committee, Hunter frequently votes NO on their fiscally conservative annual budgets (2006, 2005, 2003...)
We gave him a 49% on the 2005 Club for Growth scorecard. That places him 187th within the House GOP conference, out of roughly 230 members.
National Taxpayers Union shows a more telling trend. He was strong in the early 1990s, getting "B's" and one "A", but as time went by, like most politicians, his score dropped. For the past few years, he's been getting "C's".

go to stormfront.org . Guess whose ad appears on every page?
I don't know, but certainly not Ron Paul. He has never advertised or published on that site.

I ve met SoCalPol and I assure you, she cares deeply for our country. We do not agree on candidates, but we are united in our best wishes for America.
Then she should stop making gratuitious insults about other Freepers and their candidates such as this:
So, another useful idiot anti war nut job for L Ron Paul who doesnt think we have enemies, and the folks jumping out of the WTC on 9/11 was fake filming.

I have followed the Club for Growth for many years. They have done some excellent work but you are correct that they have a blind spot where illegal immigration is concerned.

Since you don’t have the facts on your side you make charges you know are false.
You are the one who hates America and hates Conservatives.
DU and KOS must pay you well to splat your left wing crap.

What charges have I made up?
What have I ever said that you interpret as "hating America" or conservatives? What "left wing crap" are you talking about?
Just insulting someone that you disagree with is not what FreeRepublic is all about. You should try DU or KOS (whatever that is).

Hey b9, these threads are full of the left wing Paulites who want to see America taken over by the IslamOfascist.
It is also getting old the false charges they make against Hunter. You can tell they haven’t gone to his Congressional site to see his background in voting.
I can respect other people who choose another candidate but not rigid into their bigotry.
It seems people from sertain parts of the U.S. can’t help themselves as they are sheltered from the real world in hicksville.
They have a big mouth while hiding in the sticks.
They couldn’t live in the real world.

Excellent post on Club for Growth.
You can tell some of the folks on this thread have a problem with reality.
They don’t believe there is an enemy, that is to ease their anxiety level so they can worship their financial portfolio.
These are sad little people.

Wrong. At the bottom of the Stormfront page is a Paul ad for Prez.
Also go to the Paul forum. It makes the Daily KOS and DU look pro American and Conservative.

If you consider a person who is conservative and worked for Reagan when he ran for Gov. anti American, you have a problem.
Also in recent years I and other FReepers and Protest Warriors counter the Code Pinkos near the Naval Medical Center, San Diego and have countered other huge marches and rallys by others Marxist groups including 50,000 Mexicans with their anti American signs and Mexicans flags.
I go toe to toe with the enemy while others sit at home
and take big.

You are wrong. That is not an ad that Ron Paul paid for or authorized. He has no control over what someone chooses to out on their website. People post banners and things on this website all of the time.
You need to retract that scandalous lie that Ron Paul advertises on that ugly website.

Did I say that you were anti-American? No. Claiming that people that you disagree with are anti-American is your forte, not mine.
You will be pleased to know that Ron Paul supported Ronald Reagan when he ran for president when almost no other congressman did.
