This is a win-win situation.
-If the SC decides to be real Americans and uphold the 2nd ammendment, then we win.
-If the SC goes all Commie on us, then candidates with even the slightest record or whisper of being a gun grabber will lose the Republican nomination.
Uhhh, typically how fast will the supreme court act on this issue after decided to take a case? I surely hope it isn’t AFTER the primaries.
If we are lucky, the ruling will be released prior to the conventions.
A while. Arguments in March, probably, with no decision until June.
The Court usually saves "the best for last". That is to say, the important and controversial cases don't get handed back down until the conclusion of the term, sometimes not until the last day, 'round June or July.
I would expect it to be the same with _this_ case. It will become one of the most "awaited" cases of the 21st Century.
IF there is a solid consensus among the Justices one way or the other, the decision may come sooner. But I wouldn't count on it.
Whatever they decide, it will come in time to be a hot campaign issue in '08.

If the SC goes commie again, there should be no need to worry about GOP nominations until after we, the citizen militia of the Republic, charged with the responsibility of being the last line of defense in case of invasion or the installation of a tryant, take our country back.
