Hasn’t it got to be #2 ?
I voted 3. Any Abrahamic religion can be interpreted to be extremist or totalitarian by a few fringe members, Islam is no different and the sooner we realise that Islam is held hostage by these maniacs using religion as a springboard for their totalitarian views, the sooner we will be able to oust these maniacs, and perhaps even introduce an age of enlightenment to a religion and region devoid of free thought and individualism.
We need to stay in Afghanistan and Iraq and bring these totalitarian dictators in priests clothing down.

I’d have to say it is a combination of 2 and 3. You forgot to add the choice of “cult” as I believe that is more realistic.
