So go ahead and mourn. But quit your bellyaching and finish your creamed maize.

Never heard this before. Around here the liberal alleged native-American “activists” like Ward Churchill go bats@#t around Columbus Day, but they’ve quiet about Thanksgiving. Makes sense, though. The libs are systematically attacking all our holidays and observances.

In a former life and a saner time, Thanksgiving was a time to celebrate friendship between Native Americans and English Settlers, both of whom are in my ancestral lines.
Why do we have to divide people up into fighting groups just to advance the dubious cause of political correctness?

Seattle Public Schools has distributed a letter to their teaching staff instructing them to be sensitive to the fact that for many Indian people, Thanksgiving is a time of mourning.Oh, puhleeze. I've never EVER heard a Native American person say such a thing. This is formed out of the 'white guilt' so many liberals carry.

There are no native Americans.
Just an argument over the time everyone got here. Some wish to confer special status on people who got here before others.

I almost understand why they did this, as we are surrounded on all sides by native tribes and most of our cities derive their names from them.
That said.... sigh.

Seattle Public Schools has distributed a letter to their teaching staff instructing them to be sensitive to the fact that for many Indian people, Thanksgiving is a time of mourning.UGH!!! They've got Indians in their schools that were misplaced by pilgrims???? Heck! Let's go back a few thousand more years to dig up some collective guilt! Can we please come into the 21st century and just get over it! I can assure you there is no ancestor of any Indian in Seattle that was displaced because of the 'pilgrims'.
What a bunch of idiots.
I'm Indian, and it was my people who befriended the pilgrims and I'm not mourning one damn bit. Bring on the turkey.

Isn’t Seattle named after the famed Indian Chief whose now celebrated lament turns out to have been cooked up by a white reporter [probably an ancestor of Dan Rather]? Somehow, it fits.

From the website:
Myth #1: The First Thanksgiving occurred in 1621.
Fact: No one knows when the first thanksgiving occurred. People have been giving thanks for as long as people have existed

And that, folks, is a learned individual talking.
Don't have to read much more except for the humor value.
