Triple-digit monthly parking fees, $12 movie tickets, clogged intersections and weekly grocery bills that rival some mortgage payments. Welcome to life in the Big Apple. And Los Angeles. And Chicago.
But, it's possible to enjoy such amenities without the hassles. Step one? Look for more affordable spots that offer a similar or better quality of life, and where the dollar goes far.
The Cities are:

You are SO RIGHT. Texas sucks. Please for the sake of GAWD!!!! Do not move to Texas if you are from New England or Cali.... in fact everybody just stay put.
Remember that we all own guns and use them, hunt animals, the men like women and we don't mind God in our schools or lives. We respect the military, think that football should be mandatory PE and like two kinds of beer..... cold or frosty.
Now if we could just get all the "real educated" Texas hating liberals to move to New York or L.A. and apologize for us..... I'd love it.
Walked at the speedway for the mini-marathon in May 2005.
you are correct sir....if you don't speak Spanish and are from the Northeast you must not move to Texas. There are no Spanish speaking illegal aliens in North Carolina or South Carolina...as far as Mayberry...may I recommend Bryson City, North Carolina.... I've been there and suggest that everybody from the Northeast and California look there before even thinking about Texas....cause Texas sucks..... really....sincerely....no kidding.

10 most murderous cities...
Theres a reason those places are cheap...no one wants to live there.
No one wants to live in Michigan either and it is not on the list!
I copied the city name from the article, sorry for not spell checking the author’s work.
I live in Alaska, we get lots of weather. Just this week we had winds of over 72 mph, hurricane force. We get these winds often.
Not too many brush fires.
I have been on the East Coast - don’t like big cities, period. And it seems that Pittsburgh seems to be one of the leaders in the “most murdurous city in the USA” sweeps so far this year. Nothing agaist you or those that choose to live in “the Pitt” - just not for this small town guy.
Enjoy.
I’ve been researching places to live besides NYC - it’s simply too expensive here..
I’ve found that Dallas, Atlanta, and St. Louis all have relatively high crime rates. I’m not sure about the rest of the list, but I’d rather raise my children in a safer city...
* Minneapolis
* Indianapolis
* Cincinnati
* St. Louis
* Houston
* Milwaukee
* Dallas
* Pittsburg
* Columbus
* Atlanta
I assumed that the reference was to Pittsburg, Calif., on the banks of the Sacramento River, which seems to be a pleasant place to live.
You know what I think of when I read that list? Unions, they are all union strong holds.
I haven't been up to Pittsburg, but I've been to Dixville Notch, a few miles away, where the first ballots in the New Hampshire primary and the presidential election are cast. All of the major presidential candidates will likely make an appearance there.
Anyone who says Cincinnati is a crime ridden hell hole has obviously never been to Cincinati. Cincinnati is one of the most family-friendly places there is. Certainly, there are certain parts of town to avoid (and those parts are crime ridden and tend to make the news). But the city and its suburbs are generally one of the safest places around. Very few places in town where I would worry about locking my doors.
It is a pity that the Cincinnati riots are what defines that town. Cincinnati is really rather safe. Yes, there are hooligans. But, truthfully, it is not a bad place.
I assume the Columbus in question is the one in Ohio and not New Mexico. Columbus, NM, probably has very affordable housing, but not much else. It does boast a county library that was still using a card catalog the last time I visited it in 2002. However, Columbus is only a little over an hour away from Las Cruces, Mesilla, and El Paso.
What I like best about Columbus, Ohio is its German restaurants.
Most are cities in blue states. That is interesting.
I used to live in Indy and it was very inexpensive to live there. But there is absolutely NO culture and nothing distinctive about the city. I still loved it though. Real people not like the snotty leftists that inhabit Seattle.
I did like getting around in Indianapolis. I could get about anywhere in 20 30 minutes tops. Traffic is so bad here in the Seattle area often it will take a couple of hours to go south suburbs to north suburbs. Heck even LA was easier to get around in than Seattle.
It wasn’t just Bill. It was two decades plus of Maynard + Andy + Bill. Andy I don’t think was corrupt, but corruption grew under him, he didn’t do much to root it out or otherwise make the city “run”. The other two were definitely slurping at the trough, Bill hugely so. It really, really pissed Boortz off, he’d get on a Bill Campbell rant, and you could see him turning red through the radio, which takes some doing.
