Spain's king to Venezuela's Chavez - "shut up" Sat Nov 10, 2007 2:21pm EST
By Manuel Farias and Pav Jordan
SANTIAGO (Reuters) - Spain's King Juan Carlos told Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez on Saturday to "shut up" during closing speeches by leaders from the Latin world that brought the Ibero-American summit to an acrimonious end.
"Why don't you shut up?" the king shouted at Chavez, pointing a finger at the president when he tried to interrupt a speech by Spanish Prime Minister Jose Luis Rodriguez Zapatero.
Zapatero was in the middle of a speech to the summit of mostly leftist leaders from Latin America, Portugal, Spain and Andorra, and was criticizing Chavez for calling former Spanish Prime Minister Jose Maria Aznar a fascist.
Chavez, a leading leftist foe of Washington, also attacked Spanish businessman Gerardo Diaz Ferran earlier in the week after he questioned the safety of foreign investments in Venezuela.
"I want to express to you President Hugo Chavez that in a forum where there are democratic governments ... one of the essential principles is respect," Zapatero told the leaders gathered in the Chilean capital, Santiago.
"You can disagree radically, without being disrespectful," Zapatero, a socialist, said sternly, drawing applause from some of the other heads of state.

Chavezs source of power stems from the ever rising oil prices.
$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$4
Then what about Nicaragua, Bolivia, and Ecuador¨?
No...Chavez´s source of power is the greed of ordinary people who vote for Marxism in the voting booths.
And...IT CAN HAPPEN HERE! ( Yes, I am shouting. Why are people asleep?)
There are Marxists and their useful idiots in every government bureaucracy, in our legislatures, and ESPECIALLY our schools! They are hard at work indoctrinating our nation´s voters.
All Marxists lie. Marxists lie by calling themselves liberals, progressives, socialists, leftists, and Democrats.
Remember: Scratch a liberal and under his thin skin is socialist. Dig a little deeper and you will soon find the Marxist nuclear fuel rod that drives everything he says and does.
“’I want to express to you President Hugo Chavez that in a forum where there are democratic governments ... one of the essential principles is respect,’ Zapatero told the leaders gathered in the Chilean capital, Santiago.”
It’s unfortunate that Zapatero would allow that Venezuela under the pig Chavez is democratic. It is anything but. They should not have given Chavez the dignity of inviting him to a gathering of democratic nations.
And Chavez calling Aznar a “fascist” would be like Rosie O’Donnell calling someone butch. Aznar didn’t have protesters against his government gunned down in the streets, didn’t shut down the opposition media and didn’t rig the elections or attack opposition political parties. And when he was voted out, he left gracefully unlike Chavez who will not leave office without being forced to do so at gunpoint.
Whatever the case, Juan Carlos is temporarily my hero for being the first significant figure to spit in Chavez’s eye.
Good to hear.
Europe is slowly waking
Chaves is a pinche puto
Cheney did, when he cussed out Leaky Leahy. I was cheering.
You'll just loose your voice like I did. Nobody is listening. Besides, you are shouting the message in the wrong forum. You need to shout it where the brainwashed leftist minions hang out.
Its unfortunate that Zapatero would allow that Venezuela under the pig Chavez is democratic.
My sense of it is that he was putting a thumb in Chavez's eye for running a totalitarian state. "In a forum where there are democratic governments"as opposed to your tin-pot dictatorship.
I’d love to see the YouTube of this.
Seems that nobody can stand Chavez except American leftists.
Indeed yes, and then some.
After Generalissimo Franco died, King Juan Carlos was installed as his successor. However, he brought in many democratic reforms that angered the hard-liner Francoists. The Spanish military attempted a coup d'état, intending to keep Juan Carlos as their figurehead. The King agreed to address the nation in support of the coup, but when the cameras came on, he called all Spaniards into the streets to fight the insurrectionists and preserve democracy. He is very passionately loved and respected by most Spaniards.

Isn't it dreadful how the more oil a country has, the worse its government? Chavez of course, and the Saudi Arabian lice are the prime examples, but I would put the Mexican and Russian governments in the same category, along with all the other oil-producing Middle Eastern nations except maybe Dubai.

Chavez and Morales like to paint the town red...
Sierre tu boca chingara, Hugo. Tu eres pandejo socialista.
Had to correct it :) ... why give them the respect of usted?
Bush: "YEAH, Yeah, yeah, WHATever... just fill'er up MonkeyBoy!!!"
"Chingara" would be the "ing" form? I'm vague on pandejo - I know it's bad.
“Mamon Culero Hue!”
/to finish the king’d thought.
You could be right. I didn’t think of that. I hope it’s what you say and not some phony concession on Zapatero’s part.
No, if you mean democratic as a practice (mind you, even we don't mean it in that sense most of the time).
But yes if you mean democratic as a supposed legitimizing factor, although "republic" -- that is a res publica or government drawing its authority ostensibly from the people -- would be a better word in that case.

Spanish can be found here. Scroll down for the meaning of "pendejo."
(There will be a pop quiz on Monday.)
