On a similar note, my sister is extremely anti-gun, and “progressive” liberal (not a rabid one though), and she tells me that the Brady bunch and MMM are all excited about Hillary or Obama becoming our next President. As she puts it to me, “we” will have the House, the Senate, and the Prez.. Supposedly, they have a number of bills all ready to roll which will effectively eliminate private handgun ownership. Their goal is to have them out of citizen hands by 2012 and they believe this will be their best chance in history to do it.

The thing that scares me, and I hate to say it, is that I think she could very well be right about Dems taking the Prez, House, and Senate this coming election.

handguns are a significant proportion of that 300 million. they are not going to go house to house. SCOTUS will defent the 2nd amendment.

My concern as well. If we loose the elections and thus the Supreme Court we may be dam lucky to keep our fishing gear let alone our treasured guns. The Bill of Rights will become the Bill of Privileged Liberals as they attack to relieve us of what we’ve learned and earned.

If they want to start CW-2, then they can try. The common saying is "from my cold dead hands", but I intend to keep my hands alive. Can't speak as strongly in favor of those that would aim to disarm me, however.

These idiots don't realize that the teeth of the second amendment is the only thing that keeps the rest of the constitution somewhat intact. Or maybe they do realize it.

While Republicans don't as of yet have a candidate to rally around just the sound of Hillary's voice makes me wonder if she could pull it off. The dems are masters of lock-step voting but I can't believe independents could stomach listening to that voice in their living rooms for 4 years.

I can’t say for sure, but I think it would trigger a catastrophic backlash against the gun-grabbers that would be unstoppable. Republicans would be swept in with landslide victories and the laws would be overturned almost immediately.

Shades of 1994, IMHO. It would set the gun-grabbers back 50 years.

The way the anti-gun crowd is going about it now has been text-book brilliant. They are incrementally chipping away at gun ownership block by block. Using the ATF to close dealers. Banning guns one at a time, starting with those least popular with the non-gun public. Raising taxes, fees and other costs until guns and ammunition are un-affordable to any but the rich.

A bold, sweeping ban would be the dumbest thing they could possibly do. I welcome it!
