I didn't immediately realize, as I made my way through the enrollment lines at college, how much it was going to cost me to live in Pasadena. My college had no dormitories so all students had to find off campus housing and transportation to get to get to school. Tuition averaged $11,000.00 per semester and the school ran 3 continuous semesters per year.
In a sincere effort to fund my education, I turned to my college financial aid office, where advisors never even suggested federal funding or grants etc. . They simply directed me to private loan companies, who were more than wiling to lend me twenty thousand dollars when I needed it; which was each semester. It was a smooth process.

Joe, I gotta say I give you credit for standing in here and answering. I will say I don’t believe the name of the school you graduated from really means anything. Kerry went to Harvard and he is scum. What you make out of your opportunities will determine how your life goes. your opportunities are more limited than some because of your medical condition I presume. Mine are limited, because I was a dumbass when younger. I deal with it.

Peter Jackson, David Lean, Michael Moore, Quentin Tarantino, Stanley Kubrick and John Woo were all high school dropouts - missing out on Art Center hasn’t seemed to hurt them.
I can’t tell you what commercials they directed, but can tell you they didn’t need fancy diplomas and student loans to make a mark. Taste and talent simply can’t be taught - regardless of what your ART CENTER RESEARCH TOLD YOU YOU’VE BEEN TAKEN FOR A RIDE!

Your problem is awful, though, and I can see how you'd feel the way you do. You are definitely in a situation that no one here would want to be in.Hashing over how you got there really is irrelevant now anyway, cause you're there.
But your talent and creative juices are still working, and the innovation and skills that led to your winning the prize you still have.
I urge you to keep applying those talents to finding a way out. You never know what can turn up if you just keep trying, and focus on your desired outcome.

I’m reminded of the story of the doctor who called a plumber to his house to fix the plumbing. when presented with the bill, the doctor was outraged. “Why I’m a doctor and I don’t make that kind of money.” The plumber replied, “Yeah, I know, used to be a doctor myself. that’s why I became a plumber.”
This isn't an uncommon condition, it does not require teams of doctors to stabilize and it sure as heck does not require 12 months of recovery. After my wife's ablation, she was released from the hospital the same night. Any complication around the incision can be very very serious, but recovery shouldn't take more than a few weeks. She was back at work in 1 week, and we were very conservative.
Joe's story:
Then... out of the blue, I awoke one morning with my heart beating incredibly fast and my nose bleeding. My heart rate was up to 180 beats per minute. After five minutes my heart rate went from racing to irregular. It wouldn't stop. I was rushed into the emergency room at a local hospital where a team of three doctors worked hard to stabilize me. They did, but the outcome was that it was decided by a heart specialist that I needed an "ablation". This was to correct the extra electrical currents that had caused my heart to go into Atrial Fibrillation ( irregular heartbeat ).

I can relate to Joe's story. When I was in college and discovered student loans, it was as though I won the lottery! After I finished college, I stuck my head in the sand thinking they would go away. Eventually, reality came knocking at my door and now I am content to make very reasonable $110/month payments to rid myself of this debt. But $1600/month??? I don't doubt it at all! Now you can turn on the TV and see all kinds of advertisements aimed at college students for student loans. They show smiling young people with wads of cash in their hands and I have no doubt that these ads get a lot of people signing up.
Eventually, the bill comes due. I don't see how many of these loan companies can expect a recent college grad with an entry level job to cough up $1600/month in loan payments. They probably barely take home that kind of money. What's the saying? "You can't draw blood from a rock."
I forsee student loan payments to be an issue that politicians will address in the near future. Most likely, the taxpayer will wind up bailing out a lot of people like Joe who got in way over their heads in student loan debt (and there are A LOT of people in this situation Joe isn't alone).

But, talk to the doctors — the recovery period for the tissue in your heart is 6 to 8 months... sometimes a full year - to see full benefits of the procedure.

I didn’t read your story, but I do know that the way student loans are set up and presented are not good. IIRC, there have been scandals in terms of kickbacks, etc.
Is there any way you could re-enroll in a local community college in order to get your loans put on hold? You could probably get some decent health insurance there.
I had a serious loan screw-up that was the fault of the bank, and took YEARS to clear. It messed up my life for several years and destroyed my credit. While completely different, my situation makes me quite sympathetic to yours.
