Well that was interesting; a Dutch woman joining FARC!?! I hope the woman is, at some point, allowed to leave but she sure is the poster child of naivete.

U.S. intel center wary of terrorist attack
November 25, 2007

The nation's largest intelligence training center changed security measures in May after being warned that Islamist terrorists with the aid of Mexican drug cartels were planning an attack on the facility.

Fort Huachuca changed security measures after sources warned that possibly 60 Afghan and Iraqi terrorists were smuggled into the U.S. through underground tunnels with high powered weapons to attack the post, according to multiple confidential law enforcement documents obtained by The Washington Times.

“A portion of the operatives were in the United States, with the remainder not yet in the United States,” according to one of the documents, an FBI advisory that was disbursed to the Defense Intelligence Agency, Central Intelligence Agency, Customs and Border Protection and the Department of Justice, among numerous other law enforcement agencies throughout the nation. “The Afghanis and Iraqis shaved their beards so as not to appear to be Middle Easterners.”

According to the FBI advisory, each Middle Easterner paid Mexican drug lords $20,000 “or the equivalent in weapons” for the cartel's assistance in smuggling them through tunnels along the border into the U.S. The numerous tunnels supposedly ended at warehouses in Laredo, Texas, and in Arizona.

Lt. Col. Matthew Garner, spokesman for Fort Huachuca, said details regarding the current phase of the investigation or security changes on the post “will not be disclosed.” "We are always taking precautions to ensure that soldiers, family members and civilians that work and live on Fort Huachuca are safe," Mr. Garner said. "With this specific threat we did change some aspects of our security that we did have in place."

According to the FBI report, the weapons associated with the plot were smuggled through a tunnel from Mexico to the U.S.

BAGHDAD, Iraq – Coalition forces detained 24 suspects today during operations targeting al-Qaeda networks in central and northern Iraq.

Coalition forces captured a wanted individual during operations north of Samarra. The wanted individual is believed to be involved in al-Qaeda in Iraq media networks and was involved in attacks against Coalition forces. In addition to the wanted individual, Coalition forces detained three suspects without incident. During other operations in Samarra, Coalition force detained 11 suspects during operations targeting al-Qaeda’s courier and media networks, as well as weapons facilitators and associates of senior terrorist leaders.

During operations in Baghdad, Coalition forces captured a wanted individual reportedly involved in the Karkh car-bombing network and a close associate to several Karkh al-Qaeda in Iraq leaders. In addition to the wanted individual, Coalition forces detained four suspects without incident.

West of Yusufiyah, Coalition forces captured a wanted individual allegedly associated with al-Qaeda in Iraq leaders and foreign terrorists in the Southern Belt. During the operation, Coalition forces called for the targeted building’s occupants to come out and they complied. The wanted individual identified himself to the ground force and was subsequently detained.

South of Darband-i-Khan, Coalition forces detained one suspect believed to be associated with a terrorist courier network between Iraq and neighboring countries.

In Mosul, Coalition forces also detained two suspects during operations targeting al-Qaeda in Iraq operations, weapons procurement and foreign terrorist facilitators.

“Iraqi and Coalition forces are hitting al-Qaeda across Iraq, disrupting their terrorist networks,” said Maj. Winfield Danielson, MNF-I spokesman. “The Iraqi people are working with us, helping us find al-Qaeda, to ensure a more secure future for their nation.”
