LA Times Sitting On Major Sex Scandal Involiving "Leading Presidential Candidate"

So I was down in DC this past weekend and happened to run into a well-connected media person, who told me flatly, unequivocally that “everyone knows” The LA Times was sitting on a story, all wrapped up and ready to go about what is a potentially devastating sexual scandal involving a leading Presidential candidate. “Everyone knows” meaning everyone in the DC mainstream media political reporting world. “Sitting on it” because the paper couldn’t decide the complex ethics of whether and when to run it. The way I heard it they’d had it for a while but don’t know what to do. The person who told me )not an LAT person) knows I write and didn’t say “don’t write about this”.

Yup. It's been buzzed about since last Spring, including this item in the Village Voice (not the best source, I know!):

As I recently said on MONICA CROWLEY's radio show, whisper campaigns are claiming that HILLARY CLINTON is GAYLE KING–ing her aide de camp, the glamorous HUMA ABEDIN, an Indian/Pakistani goddess from Kalamazoo, Michigan. In other words, Hillary may be putting Huma out there in the press and purposely making her more visible as a pre-emptive strike that amounts to her hiding in plain sight. This way, no Republican can later say, "Who is this gorgeous babe who spends so much intimate time with Hillary that the Observer called her Hill's 'body person'? Was GENNIFER FLOWERS's book right about Hillary's sexual taste?"

That’s what i’m thinkin too..They are waiting to do a ‘Rather’. Sit on it and release it tight before or after they ghet nominated, to do as much smear damage as possible, and leave as little time as possible before a vote for the candidate to refute, or otherwise recover from the attack,
to damage their electability/reputation/credibility.

The LA Times would never have let this leak out about a Dem.

They would have buried it and anyone who dared speak of it.

I disagree. It could still be a Hillary scandal and they are providing themselves cover by pretending to care about the consequences and hence are delaying. That way if it leaks by some other means they can retain "credibility" by saying they were ready to release it themselves. If it doesn't leak then they're covered as well.

We already know that Rudy wasn't faithful to wife #1 (with wife #2) or to wife #2 (with wife #3). Fred Thompson "dated" dozens of trophies and they have all endorsed him. In fact, there are so many of them, they have formed his largest PAC. Bet it isn't Mitt or they would have put it in 2" letters in color on the front page. McCain left his wife who had been injured in a car accident, but that's not new info.

OK so we’re supposed to believe that “only” the LA Times is smart enough to dig up a story on a sex scandal and “everyone” knows about it? Fox, the Wall Street Journal, Washington Times, New York Post are all too stupid to sumble across it? Expecially now that “everybody” knows the Times is sitting on it? Sorry, sounds a bit fishy to me.
