That was classy of him to wait until the day the Red Sox win the World Series to make this announcment. /s

Being that the Cubs are in the process of being sold, it seems unlikely to me that they would make any move toward A-Rod.

I wonder if it'll be the Giants. That ball park on the Bay is pretty and all, but they need a big name star replacing Barry Bonds to keep that place filled.

The Yankees are going to announce that Joe Girardi will be their new manager. He will evaluate the talent the team has and in short order get rid of the prima donnas and will help put together a talented young team in short order.
A-Rod is like many very good players that are a cancer to the team. It is a team, not an individual sport.

If he were 15 years older, the Pirates would take an option on him.

Boras has easily ticked off close to a third of MLB owners through past escapades. I wouldn't count the yankeees out quite yet, since they are only one a few that can afford him. Still I agree, am pretty surprised Boras would use this timing to shop his client in this manner.

My fearless prediction?.... I think he'll end up in L.A. (angels or dodgers)

It is good to have that tedious World Series thing out of the way, so now we can get back to what matters... The New York Yankees. (Who won, BTW?... Cleaveland?)

The Yankees are better off without A-Rod. A lot of teams have been building rosters for the post-season the last eight years or so. The theory is you build a team that can do well in the play-offs, and let the regular season worry about itself. This is a result of the expanded play-off system, IMHO. With eight teams making the playoffs, you just don’t have to be that good anymore to play in the post-season.

A-Rod is the exact opposite of what you want in the “build a team for the playoffs” model. He’s boffo in July and August, but disappears in October. You would say it was bad luck or he had a few off nights, but he has been doing this for years and years. The Yankees don’t want to win to get into the Playoffs, they want to win the World Series, so A-Rod is the exactly wrong man for the job.

He will be a great benefit to some other team, who needs a big boost to get to play-off contention, but I don’t think he wants to go to someplace like Baltimore. A-Rod is going to be very suprised when the Angels, Bosox and Indians don’t come calling. He just doesn’t have what they’re looking for.

it is great to see all the Yankee haters on this site....

A-Rod could not say anything until the series was over...it is over and the red Sux nation has another world series ring....his loyality to a team is a long as a paycheck...mariners/rangers/Yankees/????......

Great news for the Yankees!

Maybe now they can get back to the World Series.

A Hall of Fame player marries a Hall of Shame agent and it makes him the highest paid player in baseball, but it doesn’t put in championship rings on his fingers.
