Everything you posted is made even more significant by considering how excellent a country S.Korea has become.
South Korea has done very well.
ROK's success seems especially amazing when we realize that, before 1950, North Korea provided about 90% of the energy in the entire Korean Peninsula due to its abundant coal and hydro power.
