Black Versus Gay Politics Has Barack Obama Tied in Knots
Fox News ^ | October 24, 2007 | Carl Cameron

Barack Obama trails Hillary Clinton among black voters but the entertainment planned for his upcoming African American gospel outreach project has another key liberal constituency — gays, lesbians and transgenders — outraged.

One black and gay group loudly complaining about the upcoming event is demanding a face-to-face meeting with Obama to complain that the senator's gospel outreach event this weekend appears anti-gay.

In a letter to Obama obtained by FOX News, the National Black Justice Coalition complains that Obama's upcoming "Embrace the Change" concert tour is being headlined by "gospel music's most openly homophobic artists; the most volatile of which is the Rev. Donnie McClurkin."

"Your willingness to share a stage with Rev. Donnie McClurkin is alarming and, frankly, deeply disappointing. Rev. McClurkin has consistently disparaged gay men and lesbians, spread half-truths and unproven theories about our lives and has shown a willingness to work with those who would use the rights of gay Americans as a wedge issue to divide black families for their own cynical political objectives," wrote NBJC Chief Executive Officer H. Alexander Robinson.

I never thought I’d see the word “gospel” in the same sentence as “volatile”.

the blacks and gays are just going to have to fight it out. I’d say “always bet on the black guy”, but in this case, if the black guy is gay... hmmmm it’s up in the air

oh c’mon that’s funny...

Black people are not going to back down on this. We do not support homosexuality. We’ve seen too much damage to our community by it, particularly the “down-low” brothers. If fact, a general openness of sexuality has done more harm to us than anything else. And we’re not buying that gays are “victims” when most of them make above the middle class income and very well above the average black person’s income.

It seems that the entire democrat party is nothing more than victim group after victim group demanding attention and special treatment and when they get it and it upsets another victim group that group wants the situation fixed, upsetting the first victim group and likely upsetting a 3rd victim group. Its a giant ball of angry people looking to be paid off.

The real battle will come when homosexuality is proven to be a geneitic trait that one is born with. Gays will praise the findings and demand they be provided all that others have. Then parents will start aborting babies with the gay gene. Gays will protest and turn pro-life, upsetting the NAGS and a massive battle will ensue, likely tearing the groups apart and splinter parties will form.

I can't wait!

Obama is trying to pander to both groups while not really understanding either one....typical politician....nothing new here (Hillary is the only one who can get away with this kind of double dealing).

Black people are not going to back down on this.

Nor will the faction that is the NBJC. Can't imagine how Obama will finesse this.

I can't help but take some perverse pleasure of my own to see any politician caught in this position. They are all pandering blankety blanks and they all deserve it.

I don’t care what they think. Seriously. They are free to live their lives, but they are contributing to an agenda that is hell bent on destroying our way of life completely, all because its leaders think they will be in charge in the aftermath and can then rebuild the perfect world.

I have thought for years that many blacks are openly Christians, and family oriented (aka for traditional marriage/against sodomy-Anti-Biblical sexual politics, and many are even anti-abortion, and now anti-illigal immigration). I have thought for years that this could be a wedge-issue/reconcilliation politically if ANY conservative Republican legislators are willing to reach-out to them..

OBAMA is going to have to choose: His faith, or radical sexual politics. You can’t have both, and they are mutually exclusive. Also the gays should know that even though they call people like Gospel singer untrue-biggots/against “equal-rights” and etc..

These people don’t hate them, but they do take a true Biblical stance, and therefore are against it!

They are untrue!!!

True of all who would rebuild the world to their liking. What they do build is the gallows from which they will hang.

I really can’t believe (year after year) how Back Christians can stand to be in the same party as sodomites, feminists, and athiestic anti-Christians..

Not gonna happen since “gays” don’t have a genes to be “born gay”...

Even those believing in macro-evolution should realize that if it were genetic it would have been weeded out of the human race by now..

Nature doesn’t ‘tolerate’ mistakes, except in modern human beings it seems..

But I thought the Black church and Black pastors didn't take a stand on anything other than race and poverty?

It appears these particular "homophobic" gospel performers will nevertheless be voting for the very liberal and "gay" friendly Barack Obama.

LOL, Obama tried to pander to one too many groups. Now he has the queer queens after him. This should be fun.
