And, if Giuliani should, by some twist of fate, win the presidency, it will mean the end of Reaganism. It will represent a turning point in the history of the Republican Party and our nation. It will mean the continued deaths of tens of millions unborn babies when we are closer than ever to defeating the abortion culture that Roe v. Wade initiated in 1973.
Should Giuliani succeed, it will represent the end of any hope for the Republican Party to serve as an alternative to the Democratic Party for millions of people like me and Dr. Dobson. That's bigger than two terms of Hillary Rodham Clinton. That's worse even than four or eight more years in the wilderness.
I actually believe it would be worse for America if Rudy Giuliani were elected president than Hillary Rodham Clinton.
If Hillary wins, the reaction to her predictable overreaching will be similar to what we experienced in 1994 a "Republican revolution."
If Rudy wins, millions will simply defect from the Republican Party. If you want to see the rise of a third party, just be sure to nominate Giuliani and elect him as president.
The long-term consequences of a Giuliani victory are far worse than the consequences of a Clinton victory.
So let's avoid that dire choice now. There's still time to avoid such an unpleasant scenario. Let's just nominate a Republican the Republican base can support.

Amen.
Hows that worked out politically?
How bout one, ONE pro-abort President in the past 40 years?
‘Worked out rather well, politically, thank you.’
Really? Then why this thread?
Sheesh.
It seems that Dobson wants to relegate Guiliani to the King Herod category. I wonder, is it his Catholicism that bothers the good doctor? His divorces? His New York background? Or all of the above? The pro-life mantle that has been draped on his shoulders is a false censure; Guiliani has said that Roe v. Wade is an issue that must be resolved through the Courts and not by fiat, and he has addressed that aspect on many occasions.
As I recall, King David was a rotter for most of his life. So was Saul. It is surprising what wonders politicians can accomplish when called on to lead. Remember that simple-minded actor Ronald Reagan? For people like Dobson, the perfect is the enemy of the good. Don’t worry he wouldn’t be happy with a Mormon in office either.
Dr Dobson and others who council defeat in hopes for a “revival” of Conservatism of some sort, are rationalizing their emotions and fears.
And I completely understand their stance.
But I will not throw a match with Hill and Bill, no way, and I would ask others to resist the temptation.
Do you also think that Hitler's holocaust should have been decided on a province by province basis? When and where did it become the opinion of voters that decides what is eternally right and wrong? IIRC, those standards were written on stone and brought down from Mt Sinai by Moses, not the result of a vote by the Israeli tribe.
The American holocaust has so far taken approximately 50,000,000 innocent human lives compared to Hitler's "mere" 6,000,000 innocent Jews. In your opinion which nation is more worthy of condemnation, the one where the people have the right to vote on the issue, or the one where the ordinary people were virtually prisoners in their own nation and had no effectual say in the matter?
Anyone else. But not Her. Not Them.
How’s Ruth Bader Ginsberg working out for you? You know she will retire if Hillary is elected. And do you think Hillary would nominate a less liberal judge? No way.
Burn our house down with Obama or Edwards - anyone but her.
Now, for y’all that feel that voting for anything less than a stated pro-life candidate is tantamount to performing an abortion yourself? That’s cool. I won’t try to change your mind.
BUT, if you sit out any contest against Hillary...
Fiddle while Rome burns.
Again, I’m not the ‘enemy’ here. I’ve already noted multiple times I don’t support Abortion, and that I find Roe v Wade horrible law.
I’d like to think you actually read what I just repeated, but your post to me ranting about a ‘holocaust’ indicates either you didn’t, or you just want to rail at somebody on this topic.
I’m not the ‘enemy’ on this topic. I’m just noting this is politically great for the GOP base, but a loser in a general election cycle. Same as gun control is politically great for the Dems base, but a loser in a general election cycle.
How about the view that BOTH are dangerous? that just because one is worse doesn’t mean the other is automatically acceptable?
In our system, you get one or the other.
And yes, the lesser of two evils is still evil.
But its lesser. And less evil is good.
Sulking in a corner if Fred (or whoever) doesn’t win will result in greater evil. And that’s bad.
Very bad.
Navy_mom responds: Very often when I read post on Free Republic, I get the impression that many freepers are one issue voters. The issue being abortion.
While my husband and I are both staunch pro-lifers, it frightens me to think so many of my fellow GOP voters seem to have such tunnel vision regarding abortion. If those who oppose abortion are willing to allow a Hillary Clinton presidency simply because Rudy is pro-choice then aren’t we cutting off our nose to spite our face? My candidate is not Rudy by any means. But, I am not so short sided to think allowing Hillary to become president as some form of “protest” will do anything but cripple the conservative movement perhaps even devastate it. It seems to me a lot of GOP voters have this mentality of "I'll show them, I'll hurt me" Its troubling.
Giuliani is an unacceptable PRIMARY vote.
No Giuliani, NO PROBLEM.
Navy_mom responds: Rudy and Hillary are NOT the same they are similar in certain areas~! But, if you think Christian Conservative pro-lifers have a prayer (pun intended) of surviving a Clinton presidency. You are sadly mistaken. Dobson is dead wrong on this. To think America may have an extreme leftest president who is also knee deep in criminal activities all because of some sanctimonious Dopson types sends a cold chill down my spine.
Joe Farah is totally insane and has been for a long time.
As Christians are we unable to judge even the smallest matters? Do you think Hillary will prosecute the war better than Rudy?
The Clinton teams 1st order of business once elected was to reneg on the tax cut, then push for gays in the military and finally Waco.
look how Congress has acted when they got back into power, full steam ahead in their attempt to destroy this country.
The reason America should be strong and free is because it is a nation of mostly Christians and a nations where Christians can escape persecution abroad. It is also a nation that spreads the Gospel of Jesus throughout the world and feeds the poor and destitute mainly through private Christian donations and volunteers.
I think Rudy will cut and veto spending. He will push for tax cuts, he will wage war against islamists.
That said I think Fred or Duncan would be better Presidents, especially Fred because he thinks of power as being at the state level. That said of the things Hillary would do, they would be opposite of vetoing spending (unless its defense spending), cut taxes (she would raise them), prosecute the war (she wants us to lose).
God Bless the ABCs!
And God Continue to Bless Texas!!
Give me a break. My non-vote of Rudy does not equate to a vote for Hillary. Yes, I'd rather see Hillary win than Rudy. Now hit the abuse button and report me to the Mods.
