TAMPA, Fla. - Republican Fred Thompson sidestepped a question about the Terri Schiavo right-to-die case last month, saying he didn't remember the details. On Monday he said he's uncomfortable discussing it because of his own daughter's death.

And no, a husband does NOT have the right to kill his wife. We are not living under radical Islam in this country, where husbands can kill their wives.
Now try to use you own common sense. When a man sues for malpractice, and gets the $$ because he SAYS he will take care of his wife for the rest of his life, but AFTER he receives the $$ “remembers” that his wife would not want to live like that, do you think the man was lying?

In the first presidential debate, both Hunter and Brownback said it was right for Congress to try to save Terri.
Rudy wanted to leave it up to the courts. It was the COURTS that gave us Roe.

Culture of death or culture of life? Where should the United States strive to be? All other talk is rehashing, I agree, but it's about what this country should strive to be. Culture of death or a culture of life?
Hi, BB. Fred's got some 'splainin' to do. He's running for high office. He adores his new children but will not discuss his deceased daughter and knew little about Terri. Why not?
Please define Culture of Death and Culture of life, it means so many things to so many people, if we are to have an intelligent discussion, I need to know what these terms mean to you.
When you say "Culture of Life" that means Life at all costs, endlessly resuscitating people who don't want to be resuscitated and it is an ugly picture that comes to my mind.
When you say "Culture of Death" I picture cleansing of the Genome by killing all who have the slightest undesirable genetic trait, the old, of course, the infirm, and any unwanted child could be terminated at any time up until adulthood.
I subscribe to neither of the above, so what do you mean.
Labels: a quick way to marginalize someone without having to deal with them as a person with a brain.

Copy of the Constitution in my PDA with me all the time, it is a beautiful document, for one thing it shows how much we have dumbed down english in the intervening years.
Amendment V "No person shall be held to answer for a capital, or otherwise infamous crime, unless on a presentment or indictment of a Grand Jury, except in cases arising in the land or naval forces, or in the Militia, when in actual service in time of War or public danger; nor shall any person be subject for the same offence to be twice put in jeopardy of life or limb; nor shall be compelled in any criminal case to be a witness against himself, nor be deprived of life, liberty, or property, without due process of law; nor shall private property be taken for public use, without just compensation."
Amendment XIVSECTION 1.
All persons born or naturalized in the United States and subject to the jurisdiction thereof, are citizens of the United States and of the State wherein they reside. In Terri's case there was due process of law. You disagree with the outcome, fine, you have that right, but there were many court cases, in my opinion too many.
And no, a husband does NOT have the right to kill his wife. We are not living under radical Islam in this country, where husbands can kill their wives.
He did not walk in and plunge a knife in her chest while she was screaming for help. make is sound as gruesome as you can, but the fact is she could not feed herself and her brain had deteriorated to the point that she did not know what was happening. They performed an
Autopsy specifically so people would know if they had made the right choice.
Go, read one of the descriptions, and stop being willfully ignorant and emotional.

I was not in the courtroom, I don't presume to judge on facts not in evidence, such as demeanor, supporting documentation, etc. The judge in the case made a determination according to the law, all sorts of people tried all sorts of things and the law was on his side. Don't like the law, work for a change, you have that right. However, expect me and people who have seen the dark hole that can be living beyond when you want to die will be fighting for our right not to be kept alive artificially past a point of our determining.
I have been told repeatedly on this thread, "It's not about you" well, it could have been and I would want the right to die without being tortured first. some of the folks here would deny me that right, thus, it becomes "about me".

Where does he think courts get the authority and basis for their rulings, if federal and state governments ought not be involved? Thompson’s statement makes absolutely no sense.

Good point. Life and liberty comes to mind too. They go hand in hand. Liberty goes first, then life. Wesley Smith, Phd is a foremost expert on bioethics. He's on the side of life. People should not be judged by atheists, the aclu, and fringe groups or even RINO republicans as to the value of their lives. That is where the objection lies.
There was a united front to kill Terri. They weren't as organized in 2003 but by 2005, even law enforcement was helping the death cultists. It's hard to kill an innocent person unless all the ducks are in a row. Finally, they were!

If a bank robber shoots and kills a bank teller, it's called murder. Because it happened to a disabled woman, doesn't make it a "wild conspiracy". It was a murder and she got robbed first so that she was medicaid eligible. (Medicaid fraud to take a wife's rehab monies, spirited to death attorneys so that she's eligible for medicaid so that the state can kill her in a bad hospice.)
Why don't people get that major fraud occurred in Terri's case?
They never will. Although the media did a great job brainwashing the American people, thank God they didn't have much of an effect on freepers.

There was a Terri hearing (without Terri) in Greer's courtroom. The subject was would Terri go to hell if they starved and dehydrated her based upon the ruse of her made up wishes or would she be stuck in purgatory?
It was in the www.sptimes.com back in 2004 or early 2005.
Terri's not responsible for her death. It was a hearing like no other. Greer, the big RINO bootlicker deciding Terri's penalties from God. Greer, who said his opponents were bloggers (yeah, like Blogger Pope John Paul II but the media was on his side. OBVIOUSLY.
Too bad he can't take the leftist propagandist media w/him when his life's journey is over.
