UPDATE: The city of Malibu is advising residents in Puerco Canyon to begin evacuating due to a wildfire driven by powerful winds. This area is north of Pacific Coast Highway and about 1 mile west of Pepperdine University. Residents along the beach on Malibu Road may soon be evacuated. Pacific Coast Highway is closed between Kanan-Dume Road and Topanga Canyon. Residents are advised to head to the west. Evacuation centers are being set up in the Zuma Beach area.
A wildfire driven by powerful winds in the Malibu Hills this morning threatened a university, destroyed at least one home and forced the evacuation of hundreds more, authorities said.

Oh man.....I’m sorry about that church...
Wow, thanks for the eyewitness review. Looked like quite a place, that’s for sure. It’s weird how a bunch of her artwork and photographs are sitting there on the ground for TV cameras to sift through. Even though FF are certainly commended for grabbing anything they can find and removing it before burning. It’s weird.
Did you see those horses? wow what a site
With an 82 year old priest who gave Daily Mass.(83 now)
I think KABC’s vaseline lens on her every night is hilarious. But HD is ..how do they put it... not kind to her. The thing is, no one would care or think twice about it were it not for her being and acting so vain.
That’d be just north of San Bernardino, in the Cajon Pass...another natural wind tunnel during Santa Anas.
Absolutely true. And so far, that’s continuing to be the case.
That’s one of the weird things about TJ’s. Out here, Trader Joe’s are neat little stores full of regular folks (in my experience). The eastern TJ stores are looked upon as being Dean & Delucca’ish — snobvilles.
currently a fire now burning in Potrero, 30 miles southwest of my house, with windspeeds in access of thirty miles an hour. Of course, Potrero is right in the middle of migrant trails from Mexico -
Also fire reported in Ramona.
Yeah, it was pretty cool. They had an automatic gate off Malibu Rd. when you entered, you drove down the dirt path and then onto a stone driveway that felt like you were going over a moat. Then you saw the huge garages for the car collection and a guest large quarters (or servants, lol)on the far end. The entire place inside was just amazing.
By her do you mean the current owner? I just turned on the TVnews so I missed the coverage of that.
Malibu fire now growing again
Out of control thus far.......
Anyone have a link to a live cam coverage?
My understanding from a close friend of mine who is a realtor there says she is a flake.
I have lots and lots of memories of the area. My cousins lived at the top of Sweetwater Cyn; my first boyfriend at the top of Carbon Cyn. And lots of friends all the way to Zuma. Dang. It looks like those homes may be hit. It’s headin’ right for the firestation!
When you said that the castle was a landmark, I had to chuckle. My first landmark that I remember was the Atlantic-Richfield gas station, LOL. I guess that was more than a couple years ago. ;-)
I need to look up where 215 is. That must be south of the pass?
