UPDATE: The city of Malibu is advising residents in Puerco Canyon to begin evacuating due to a wildfire driven by powerful winds. This area is north of Pacific Coast Highway and about 1 mile west of Pepperdine University. Residents along the beach on Malibu Road may soon be evacuated. Pacific Coast Highway is closed between Kanan-Dume Road and Topanga Canyon. Residents are advised to head to the west. Evacuation centers are being set up in the Zuma Beach area.
A wildfire driven by powerful winds in the Malibu Hills this morning threatened a university, destroyed at least one home and forced the evacuation of hundreds more, authorities said.

Meg and Dave, your prayers are welcome.
Thank you, Northern California, for sending help!!
I was listening to the whole thing as it developed. Those cops were and are mighty testy. They’re tired no doubt.. and they were arguing about not waiting for the FD to evacuate the trailer park.
New fire, I don’t know the incident name.. but it just jumped the 14 freeway from what I heard.
Thanks, it was janetjanet98 looking for live feeds... I take she’s not in area.
No local TV coverage at this point, and it’s time for slumber anyway...:)
Also heard earlier on tv: Green Valley fire was so intense and ferocious, the CP was broken down, all fire and all police were evacuated from the area
Good, that was the best course of action then... glad they got out of there.
Me too, but 25+ homes went up in smoke there
Yes it jumped the 14, but it would be from North of the Fwy to South of the Fwy. The fire has been burning on the North side of the 14 since Agua Dulce.
Last traffic report I heard that traffic was dead stop both directions of the 14. That’s going to be right around the Soledad Canyon exit. There are some very large apartment complexes around there.
I’m turning in. If I can’t sleep I’ll be back. :)
Stay safe everybody
My prayers are with you.... I have relatives in both northern and southern. God bless and keep all of you safe.
Right, it’s jumped the fwy onto the part that hasn’t yet been burning. I’m trying to picture this exit... I think there’s an In-n-Out there? The Channel 2 reporter said they had a very strong sense of natural gas smell, and that there’s a smaller fire also burning near a Chevron station up the road, and a Yum Yum Donut shop.
Are you okay? Any word yet on your home?
Carve the belly into sashimi and eat it raw with ponzu sauce.
If you have to cook it, just sear the outside really fast by turning it in a super hot skilled with sesame oil for five seconds per side.
No local TV coverage at this point, and its time for slumber anyway...:)
~~~
Gotta head that way myself...Niters...
I think where it jumped is going to be where Tippi Hendren’s animal shelter is or just North of her place.
Did you see the photo with all the traffic dead stop on the 14? Not a good place to be tonight.
The news is just barely keeping up with the latest. I can’t believe they’re going ahead and airing Nightline here.
Aw, wish you’d stay up but you need your sleep, lol, well, so do I, if I can.
Sleep well.
Thanks for your prayers, Kim. Prayers extended for all.
Thank you for your prayers and thanks to all the towns up there for sending firemen and trucks!
Prayers up for all the firefighters, cops and civilians - everyone. I seem to recall someone saying how if you reach the point where you have to deploy those fire shelters your chances are pretty slim.
