UPDATE: The city of Malibu is advising residents in Puerco Canyon to begin evacuating due to a wildfire driven by powerful winds. This area is north of Pacific Coast Highway and about 1 mile west of Pepperdine University. Residents along the beach on Malibu Road may soon be evacuated. Pacific Coast Highway is closed between Kanan-Dume Road and Topanga Canyon. Residents are advised to head to the west. Evacuation centers are being set up in the Zuma Beach area.
A wildfire driven by powerful winds in the Malibu Hills this morning threatened a university, destroyed at least one home and forced the evacuation of hundreds more, authorities said.

Looks like the wind is still cranking through out of the east. Tomorrow is gonna be almost as bad as today. The numbers will be devastating.

I have a friend who lives right around there, only they call it a “mobile home park.” All the mobile homes look like little houses, with porches, gardens. It’s the same area and I pray it’s not my friend’s place.
Been getting a lot of smoke since early evening here. The air had pretty much cleared out in the afternoon then whammo.
God, it would be so wonderful to have a miracle rainstorm...
Just rain... no lightning...
There are people in those mobile homes
KCAL just stopped for the evening..any more live LA feeds?
last live shot showing trailer park on fire
Here in San Diego County the Cedar Fire in 2003 burned about 280,000 acres.
The one this year in Utah burned about 360,000 acres.
In 1988, the Yellowstone NP fire burned almost 800,000.
Maybe not the largest, but a good bet this one might be one of the most expensive.
Thank you, Ernest. Prayers for your kin that they aren’t in any of the fire or smoke areas.
Not during a La Nina. Now the Chinese claim to have the ability to create rain. Looks like we need more super scoopers and helicopters.
That’s a very frightening picture. I hope all the firefighters were able to get to safety.
KABC 7 is covering the new fires right now.
You can tell it’s an emergency when the news people drop the PC terms. They called it a trailer park.
I’m sure it is delightful and a sweet place to live, well.... was.
Not sure on smoke status here, since it’s dark out, but I don’t smell it. I could see it late afternoon and sunlight was hazy. Eyes kind of burning.
14 FIRES BURNING IN SO CAL.
I think 15, including the Sta Clarita one.
I don't know. To me, it just seems unimaginable. And it hasn't seemed to slow down much. Hopefully, the air crews are up bright and early tomorrow and the winds subside. Fingers crossed!
Gasp... oh, no... horrible.
thank you..I didn’t see it, but appreciate you thinking of us... it’s a bit of a mess here... full house tonight...two sets of friends with their doggies and kiddies are with us after having been evacuated from Scripps Ranch and Del Mar respectively..
