UPDATE: The city of Malibu is advising residents in Puerco Canyon to begin evacuating due to a wildfire driven by powerful winds. This area is north of Pacific Coast Highway and about 1 mile west of Pepperdine University. Residents along the beach on Malibu Road may soon be evacuated. Pacific Coast Highway is closed between Kanan-Dume Road and Topanga Canyon. Residents are advised to head to the west. Evacuation centers are being set up in the Zuma Beach area.
A wildfire driven by powerful winds in the Malibu Hills this morning threatened a university, destroyed at least one home and forced the evacuation of hundreds more, authorities said.

Me too. Is there any word or any chance that these fires will slow down tonight? I dread anymore smoke coming in. If Burbank remains clear, I’m going to need the names of some inexpensive motels nearby. It’s bad here and worse will not work.
Well what Saunders says puts it closer to me than I was thinking it would be tonight. I was afraid by tomorrow it might be getting this way, but SP Valley includes Highland Truck Trail, and that puts it getting pretty close. I still think it’d be more the RB Trails area and those off Highland that would be in danger as far as RB and some of Poway, but...

I cant believe with all the mutual aid rigs, plus the county eoc, that the county of LA is having this many communications problems.
LACFD was woefully short in their comms section when this fire broke out northeast of Santa Clarita....I heard a Batallion Chief calling them for 20 minutes with no response...it was astonishing....
Thanks...
What was the Chief calling on? Blue channel?
Los Angeles, Long Beach and San Diego. Right?
Hubby didn't want to take any chances so he went and filled up the gas tank on my car just in case.
not liking what I'm hearing about the fires getting close to the Wild Animal Park. YIKES!
Last time we had wind like this I lost part of a roof on the patio. Wind got under it a little and then did a Mary Poppins with it. I heard if fly off and crash in the yard. Scared the beejesus out of me. I flashed back to my tornado days in MO.
