...The issue with Coulter is not whether she can sell books, but whether she helps or hurts the side of the political debate she claims to support. In my opinion, Coulter has never been a big help to the effort to build a conservative and Republican majority. Her most recent comments on the relationship of Christianity to Judaism, made on the CNBC show " The Big Idea" with Donnie Deutsch on Monday of this week , may prove particularly damaging...
At a time when party affiliation is fraying and a third of Americans consider themselves independent, to build a majority of 50% plus one requires persuasion. Independents will not accept all parts of either party's platform or approach but will choose a candidate for office based on which issues matter to them, and whether one or the other party connects with them on those issues. It is a skill to disagree at times without being disagreeable. Ronald Reagan had it, and it is one of the reasons he became so popular and patched together a large winning coalition . Coulter has clearly decided there is no economic advantage for her in this approach...

Feel free to insult Jewish Republicans with your “1%” comment. Yes, and watch what happens in a close election.
I certainly hope not, because then the Dems will have a wonderful weapon to use against the Republicans.
As for the 10% of Jews that do vote Republican, they are gone.
It is more than 10%. Probably not more than 20%, though, on a consistent basis. Most of them will stay, but you'll never see the high 30+% that you saw under Reagan with people like Coulter mouthing off.
Thanks Ann!
No kidding. I have tried over time to convince many friends and family members to see the light, to stop drinking the liberal Kool-Aid, and to vote for a conservative every once in a while (hopefully leading to "all the time"). Stuff like this does NOT help.
Let me say this: Coulter has the right to believe what she wants. She has the right to say what she wants. I don't question those things in any way. I DO question her judgment. Yeah, I know, she sees herself as a bit of a bomb-thrower, someone who's mission it is to stir things up and tick off the other side. She does a good job at that, for certain. But sometimes she is WAY over the top.
Last night I, a Jew who is fairly observant, attended "A Night to Honor Israel" at Pastor Hagee's megachurch in San Antonio. I NEVER once heard anything about the doctrine of supercession, never once did anyone call Jews "non-perfected" or anything like it. In fact, the only people on stage who even mentioned Jesus were Jews. The entire presentation did nothing but warm the hearts of all of the Jews in attendence (many of whom are very observant and faithful Jews, who like me would literally rather die than convert to any other religion). This, despite the fact that Pastor Hagee and the others of his faith in attendence obviously believed that they were on the correct path to salvation. OK, fine, maybe they view things somewhat differently than Coulter (though I'd bet that politically most people there are as conservative as Coulter), but they are still of the same faith - and they win hearts and minds by not throwing bombs, by treating others with a modicum of understanding. Coulter does not display ANY understanding of the historical fear that Jews have of the "we're the only way to salvation, convert or die" philosophy. She's done nothing to win over any Christians to her side, but she has done a bunch to tick off a lot of Jews who might otherwise give serious consideration to her arguments.
She can believe and say what she wants. However, as this incident shows, the saying part often times will have the opposite of its intended effect.
I hope the fraction of people that stupid is small enough not to matter. If not, we’re doomed.
So you are saying that the “10% of Jews that do vote Republican,” will not vote Republican because they feel that Ann Coulter speaks for the Republican Party and disregard the evidence of support of Israel given by the Republican party? Doesn’t sound smart.
Big fat lie. Do you just make stuff up in your spare time?
You'd "suspect" wrong then. Zero? FReeper please.
I've come to the conclusion that you are not only an egotistical fool but a whiny crybaby as well. Aren't you going to play the race card too, or maybe the 911 New Yorker card? And how does saying 1% of jews vote republican insult anyone? I'm really curious to know. On second though, don't bother. You couldn't possibly say anything that I'd be interested in.
Richard Baehr is making money writing about Ann.
What’s his problem?
Nah, Richard Baehr was not thinking.
The GOP’s problems are far bigger than anything Ann Coulter might write or say.
This is just another ridiculous non issue being raised to avoid dealing with the real ones.
You win the jerk award. Congratulations.
We're to need a source on that. 80% of statistics are made up on the spot.
Thanks for pointing out my mistake. I am deeply sorry.
It is not that only 10% of Jews vote Republican but rather that in the last election 87% of Jews voted Democrat.

Not 10% but perhaps 13% of Jews vote Democrat.
We’re all pretty sure YOU are the troll.
Great post.
Oh, give me a break! do you know how many phone calls I have received this a.m. asking about Coulter’s stupid remark? You are a troll and not a very smart one at that!
Just go ahead and admit you're a Roody supporter. It's okay, we'll understand.
I agree with you 100%. I am a Jewish Republican and the whole morning I have received phone calls and emails regarding her tactless comments.
You could not be MORE WRONG!!!!!!!!!
Anyone who disagrees with her/him/it is a troll, much more convenient to labels someone a troll who disagrees with you than actually come up with logic.
