Ann Coulter is Not Helping
American Thinker ^ | October 13, 2007 | Richard Baehr

Posted on 10/13/2007 3:40:48 PM PDT by EveningStar

...The issue with Coulter is not whether she can sell books, but whether she helps or hurts the side of the political debate she claims to support. In my opinion, Coulter has never been a big help to the effort to build a conservative and Republican majority. Her most recent comments on the relationship of Christianity to Judaism, made on the CNBC show " The Big Idea" with Donnie Deutsch on Monday of this week , may prove particularly damaging...

At a time when party affiliation is fraying and a third of Americans consider themselves independent, to build a majority of 50% plus one requires persuasion. Independents will not accept all parts of either party's platform or approach but will choose a candidate for office based on which issues matter to them, and whether one or the other party connects with them on those issues. It is a skill to disagree at times without being disagreeable. Ronald Reagan had it, and it is one of the reasons he became so popular and patched together a large winning coalition . Coulter has clearly decided there is no economic advantage for her in this approach...

As for Republicans and Christianity, erm, so basically you’re saying I’m not welcome to the party?

No, hun. You are saying that observant Christians are not welcome in the party. As for myself, I'm not religious nor am I anti-religious. Maybe that will help you to consider what I've written here in a different light.

Danny is a moron

Seems to me that twit was doing everything he could to twist Ann's words around, to find something to be offended by.

You don't know that. You're just blowing smoke out your a&&.

Tempted as I may be to respond in kind, I'll pass.

However, such an eloquent and well thought out response on your part leaves no doubt as to why you'd be enthralled by displays of belligerence. Nuff said.

Yes, Media Matters is quite successful, and well connected. They even have some FReepers programmed quite well...

All I’m saying is those who use ‘religion’ as a way to be cruel or obnoxious harm the party by making folks walk fast in the opposite direction.

Your observant is my jerk I guess.

The left is counting on the opposition keeping their mouths shut, a role too many on our side seem content to play.

Agreed. Hillary and the Rats tell the conservatives to SHUT UP! And many do!

People are democrats because they share the same socialist ideal with the democrats. I’d prefer that all socialists stay in the democrat party rather than infect the Republicans with their insanity.

sofaman said: "This Jew is not indignant. I'm outraged."

Wow. On a scale of "0" to whatever, with "100" assigned to Columbia inviting the leader of Iran, who wants to destroy Israel, to speak, where does your outrage at Ann rank?

50? 1000?

yeah, I read it, and too many people dont take the time to actually HEAR or READ transcripts of what ANN actually said.

To twist someone’s words doesn’t make the case that she is a harm to the party or a help, it is just bogus

“By definition, any religion must believe that everyone should be a convert and Coulter’s comments where Christian doctrine 101. Anyone who believes otherwise is certainly not a Christian.”

You are saying here that unless a Christian believes that everyone should be a convert they are not a Christian. This just is not so and it is not Scriptural. Address this point instead of just tossing Scriptures around that do not pertain to my point.

Then again don’t bother. You’ll be wasting my time with your reckless use of the Scriptures.

Actually, it was the great commission, to go out and spread the word.

I read the interview. Deutsch was looking for a gotcha, and twisted both the words and the meaning of the words.

On a broader point, the question is not, “can we get the Jewish vote ?”. The question is, “why do 85% of American Jews vote for the party endorsed by those sworn to kill us all, Jews first ?”

Speaking of outrage.

You know, I just checked my blood pressure, and it's terrific.

I even checked my cholesterol and while I have a little schmaltz around my middle, theirs nothing in my veins.

Yes I am outraged at Ann Coulter, but not enough to get my knickers in a knot. I say my piece just as you do and let it go.

But thanks for worrying about my health...

I’ve never trusted Coulter since I lost an argument with my grandfather and he called me out on my using her false statistics.

Which one?

I read the transcript and watched the video. I don’t think she was a bit anti-Semitic. She did offend a number of my Jewish friends on this board. I don’t think they accused her of being anti-Semitic - just offensive, insensitive, insulting, and disrespectful.

As for me, after watching the video several times, I think she bombed. She made an ass of herself.

Discussions like these would not be happening if some people on our side would start looking at her as a person instead of looking at her as our Jeanne d’Arc.

I wouldn’t go so far as to say I’ve “created” a religion... I do believe that the Christian salvation is an integral part in entering heaven. I do, however, believe that morality has a role. You see, we are defined by our actions and beliefs. When we accept salvation from Christ, our sins (and over the course of a lifetime, unless you are a Noah or an Enoch, you will probably commit at least one) are literally “washed away” from our identities, i.e. our souls, by the proverbial blood of Jesus, and we become “perfected.” The more we sin and the more we disobey the laws of God, the more our soul “rots” and parts of it become unfit for Heaven. If we allow ourselves to be defined by this sin, or if you refuse such cleansing, your entire self gets washed away.

But I am getting way too off track here. Allow me to collect my thoughts and find out what exactly is going on with this Coulter/Deutsch thing and I’ll post my thoughts on it.

Yawn. Yet another hit piece.

Ann is a magician she turns leftys and some otherwise sane, yet somewhat girly-boy conservatives........ into a never ending parade of clowns whom she aptly points out are about the business of practicing really maudlin Kabuki Theater....they become just ‘oh so offended’ when annie twists their undies...bwahahaha it’s priceless!

i look foward to the sidesplitting fun every time this happens.... ann has made millions from these asshats...while exposing them for the frauds they are..its PERFECT.

she’s paid handsomely for providing a vital and entertaining public service....helping others and gettin rich in the bargain..and of course her victims just never seem to get it....or even get tired of getting stooged by Princess Ann....its just too funnny...
GO YOU PRINCESS ANN....

You've said you don't accept the authority of the Bible. Where else does your religion come from if not yourself?

I wouldn’t go so far as to say I’ve “created” a religion...

No, actually, I do see the scriptures as the texts that contain the word of God.

I don’t see it as infallible and perfect (no text written by man could possibly be so), but the authority of the Scriptures I do not dispute, for they contain the quotes of God and Jesus as we know them.
