I stated on another thread that few of us warned freepers that Anne Coulter is an “attention *****” and she really does go over the top on many issues. This idiotic remark by her, even if it is a joke, is stupid beyond belief, and smart conservatives should not come to her defense. Let her be marginalized, the Republicans and Conservatives do not need her stupid over the top rhetoric during the next 12 months of the Presidential elections campaign.

You will have to tell just about all of us what part was idiotic or a joke?

And make sure you are responding to what SHE SAID, not what Deutsch said, or what the headline writer said.

If you had ever bothered to find out you'd already know that this is all pretty much what's said every Sunday in every Christian church on Earth ~ even the ones at the fringe. (an exception may be the Episcopals ~ they're deep into Jesus Denial these days so maybe they don't talk about "going into all the world" and "teaching the gospels".)

You are one of the Freepers I most respect, and I even agree with you that Ann can be an attention whore, but I disagree with you on this one. She's stating simple Biblical Christian doctrine as she sees it, and I agree with her. As another poster said, if it's true, there's no reason not to say it. And if it's not true, her words are of no consequence, so why get riled up by them?

“This idiotic remark by her, even if it is a joke...”

Why would you think it’s a joke? She’s spot on. The only thing idiotic is that so few people have the guts to speak the truth anymore, and even fewer can bear to hear it.

Christ did not mince words why should a follower of Christ? Is it not Written that it is the Will of God that all be saved... and that it is only through Christ salvation is offered. What part of that did God through Christ water down?

"Yes." "Yes." "Yeah." And an invitation to come to church with her are "over the top remarks"?

The over the top part is the headline writer's.

I am a Christian before I am a Republican or conservative..and there is nothing that Ann said that isn’t true and the core of our faith.. Jesus said “none will come to the Father but through me”.. either you believe or you don’t..there is no gray area in the Bible that says there is any other way. If you consider the absolute truth idiotic or stupid, then that’s pretty sad.

Sorry jv, this is getting to exactly what Christian Conservatives are and should be. We are not supposed to hide our Faith under a barrel and she shows boldness in this statement. Imagine a Lib saying anything nearly as offensive/Truth as this.

Look, I know your Mooselimb and I am Christian but on this we will always disagree. We are called by Christ to spread the Gospel and he tells us he is the Way. This is not political but what and who we are. This is our equivilant to Blowing up Innocent Children in the name of Jesus Christ the Lord.

JV, you know I love you like a Brother and am praying that you too will one day look towards Jesus and Salvation. Only he brings peace and understanding. Unlike Islam he says there is no Greater Gift than to lay down your life for another. Just like our soldiers in Iraq. She spoke the Truth.

Pray for W and Our Troops

j: I’m sorry to disagree with you on this. She was asked a direct question by the host of the show. She gave a direct, honest and truthful answer. I hope that I, and any Christian, would have the guts to do the same despite the PC police lying in wait for us at every venue nowadays.

jv, I have seen your yeoman's work translating Arabic documents into English so that we might have some idea of what went on in Iraq under Saddam. Which only tells me that you are avid to learn the truth, and that your cultural background could be other than Christian.

You see the interview without ever having read the New Testament of the Bible, and you may not notice the true dynamics of that interview. What you see in the interview is a person who is not a Christian (in this case, a Jew) placing a Christian in a position to either affirm or reject what the New Testament says. And, when she affirmed it, you see the nonchristian condemning the Christian for intolerance equivalent to that of a Muslim extremist threatening to murder him for not agreeing with her.

If you reread that interview, you will see that that is plainly not the case and the interviewer was the one who drove the conversation exactly where it went. It took a bit of pushing - and accusatory insinuation - to get to the stage where she said:

COULTER: Well, OK, take the Republican National Convention. People were happy. They're Christian. They're tolerant. They defend America, they —
I put it to you, jv, that a sincere Muslim would belive, and a candid one would say, that the world would be a better place if everyone was a Muslim. Just so Ann, a sincere and candid Christian, said that the world would be a better place if everyone were a Christian. In response, the interviewer went into high dudgeon:
DEUTSCH: Christian — so we should be Christian? It would be better if we were all Christian?
. . . and persists in taking umbrage at the fact that Ann is a sincere and candid Christian. Well, guess what! The relevant section of the Constitution of the United States states,
Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances.
That means that Christians have the right to be and act as Christians, even if that means saying what the Bible says - when asked! And even if the person who asked wants to hear something else. When Ann invited - didn't threaten to bring him in irons but invited - the Jewish interviewer to come to her church, the interviewer would have been perfectly in his rights to reply by inviting her to visit his synagogue. And no offense would have been taken. But the last thing the interviewer was thinking about was to promote Judaism, or to offer to include her in it. He took the moment to attack Christianity.

It was not Coulter but Deutsch who was grandstanding for attention. Ann's discussion was about her ideas and beliefs, and Deutsch's rant was basically only about Deutsch.

This idiotic remark by her, even if it is a joke, is stupid beyond belief, and smart conservatives should not come to her defense.

I'm a smart conservative, just possibly even smarter than you, and I find it obvious that you don't know much about the Christian faith and it's intimate relationship to the Jewish faith.

I’m a smart conservative and I’d be MORE than willing to come to her defense....except for one thing: no “defense” is necessary. Ann said nothing requiring defense; she merely stated fairly orthodox christian doctrine.

If her forthrightness and rapier wit makes timid conservatives scared, they can always go watch Tucker Carlson, CNN House Conservative.

Or better yet, lap up the droolings of Joe “I’m a Republican but I disagree with everything conservatives say” Scarborough.

VIVA COULTER!!!

It’s NOT a joke. We Christians believe exactly that. She has the courage to speak it and most of us don’t.
