Slash-and-burn columnist Ann Coulter shocked a cable TV talk-show audience Monday when she declared that Jews need to be "perfected" by becoming Christians, and that America would be better off if everyone were Christian.
Coulter made the remarkable statements during an often heated appearance to promote her new book on advertising guru Danny Deutsch's CNBC show "The Big Idea."
In response to a question from Deutsch asking Coulter if "it would be better if we were all Christian," the controversial columnist responded: "Yes."
"We should all be Christian?" Deutsch repeated.
"Yes," Coulter responded, asking Deutsch, who is Jewish, if he would like to "come to church with me."
Deutsch, pressing Coulter further, asked, "We should just throw Judaism away and we should all be Christians?" She responded: "Yeah."
Coulter deflected Deutsch's assertion that her comments were anti-Semitic, matter-of-factly telling the show's obviously upset host, "That is what Christians consider themselves: perfected Jews."

Yes, I disagee with you. I’ve come across this POV before, and it always makes me think of some guy trying to be nice to someone who is beating the h$ll out of him. In this case, a woman is stepping into the fray and defending the guy, and you are complaining about even that. Hence, the chuckle.
She really did not imply any such thing, you simply inferred something that wasn't there. As Ann if she holds the 1st Amendment dear and shw will say absolutely.
Ask Ann if she thinks the world would be a better place if we were all perfected Christians and she will say absolutely.
The two are not mutually exclusive thoughts.
When the Mormons or Adventists come to my home to proselytize I am never offended. Do you think I have a problem? :-}
Really? Most minority voters are Christians? Why would they be offended?
The only one’s benefiting from this are the radical Dems.
“other Jews sometimes do not recognize the converts Jewishness”
Wrong. Jews recognize them as apostates. One cannot become un Jewish, to which one has either been born or converted, by adopting another religion.
And that is no more insulting than Coulter’s comments that Jews lack spiritual perfection that Christians have.
Maimonedes Thirteen Principles are as central to Jews as Jesus is to Christians.
Seems they're the only ones to whom the 1st Amendment applies.
“being fluent in Hebrew”
Says who?
More accurately,
Evangelical Christians, by definition, believe everyone should convert to Christianity
There's one major difference though. I don't favor hate crime laws or thought police to enforce what people should and shouldn't say. I'm not demanding an apology or punishment.
I'm simply saying that, from a practical standpoint, a Christian should know what parts of the Christian belief system are unpalatable to non-believers and to be careful when such subjects are discussed.
I don't like watching some Christians who tell others they are "going to Hell" for some activity they engage in. Even if true, such words only bring resentment and hatred not the self-reflection and repentance the Christian might seek. I don't like it when Christians use Scripture on non-believers like a sledgehammer instead of a lamp. The self-important will spout Scripture at non-believers and think they are doing good works when, in reality, they are alienating everyone around them who disagrees which will make it more difficult to reach them with the Truth when they are in need of salvation. The goal should be to win souls not to impress others on how well you can condemn others scripturally.
Either he is the Messiah or the biggest Fraud in Histoir. You decide.
I've already made my decision and, as you might have surmised, I don't exactly agree with you.
However, Coulter's (or anyone else's) views on religion were not the subject of my statements. The subject was (from my POV) her big mouth. I happen to agree with her about 95% of the time (not here, though), and even when I agree with her I usually end up cringing, since I KNOW that she's not helping to bring anyone to the conservative side of the aisle. Her demeanor is a liability, even though she's mostly correct.
Pray for W and Our Troops
I do, every day. It hasn't helped much in the former case - the guy has rarely missed an opportunity in the last 3 years to sell out his base. But I won't stop trying.
That's what I meant. I couldn't think of the word.........
I wonder when TV hosts are going to start asking Muslim guests if they believe that they (the TV hosts) are going to spend eternity getting boiling water poured down their throats. It’s right in the Koran.
The fact that so many are outraged over her comments is the REAL hard thing to fathom, in my mind.
Ann states the obvious, that Christians would like to see others become Christians.
Donny Douch then feigned incredulity that someone would have the audacity to think that his beliefs were not the be all and end all making up the center of the universe, and that someone has a faith they take seriously enough to try and convince others.
Just because someone would like to see someone else convert to Christianity does not mean they hate, despise, or discriminate against that same 'someone else'.
We, as a society, have GOT to stop letting the PC police turn us into woosified dolts who will be offended at the slightest conceptual difference of faith.
Ann’s theology seems congruent with Romans 11:
1I say then, Hath God cast away his people? God forbid. For I also am an Israelite, of the seed of Abraham, of the tribe of Benjamin.
2God hath not cast away his people which he foreknew. Wot ye not what the scripture saith of Elias? how he maketh intercession to God against Israel saying,
3Lord, they have killed thy prophets, and digged down thine altars; and I am left alone, and they seek my life.
4But what saith the answer of God unto him? I have reserved to myself seven thousand men, who have not bowed the knee to the image of Baal.
5Even so then at this present time also there is a remnant according to the election of grace.
6And if by grace, then is it no more of works: otherwise grace is no more grace. But if it be of works, then it is no more grace: otherwise work is no more work.
7What then? Israel hath not obtained that which he seeketh for; but the election hath obtained it, and the rest were blinded.
8(According as it is written, God hath given them the spirit of slumber, eyes that they should not see, and ears that they should not hear;) unto this day.
9And David saith, Let their table be made a snare, and a trap, and a stumblingblock, and a recompence unto them:
10Let their eyes be darkened, that they may not see, and bow down their back alway.
11I say then, Have they stumbled that they should fall? God forbid: but rather through their fall salvation is come unto the Gentiles, for to provoke them to jealousy.
12Now if the fall of them be the riches of the world, and the diminishing of them the riches of the Gentiles; how much more their fulness?
13For I speak to you Gentiles, inasmuch as I am the apostle of the Gentiles, I magnify mine office:
14If by any means I may provoke to emulation them which are my flesh, and might save some of them.
15For if the casting away of them be the reconciling of the world, what shall the receiving of them be, but life from the dead?
16For if the firstfruit be holy, the lump is also holy: and if the root be holy, so are the branches.
17And if some of the branches be broken off, and thou, being a wild olive tree, wert grafted in among them, and with them partakest of the root and fatness of the olive tree;
18Boast not against the branches. But if thou boast, thou bearest not the root, but the root thee.
19Thou wilt say then, The branches were broken off, that I might be grafted in.
20Well; because of unbelief they were broken off, and thou standest by faith. Be not highminded, but fear:
21For if God spared not the natural branches, take heed lest he also spare not thee.
22Behold therefore the goodness and severity of God: on them which fell, severity; but toward thee, goodness, if thou continue in his goodness: otherwise thou also shalt be cut off.
23 And they also, if they abide not still in unbelief, shall be grafted in: for God is able to graft them in again.
24For if thou wert cut out of the olive tree which is wild by nature, and wert grafted contrary to nature into a good olive tree: how much more shall these, which be the natural branches, be grafted into their own olive tree?
25For I would not, brethren, that ye should be ignorant of this mystery, lest ye should be wise in your own conceits; that blindness in part is happened to Israel, until the fulness of the Gentiles be come in.
26And so all Israel shall be saved: as it is written, There shall come out of Sion the Deliverer, and shall turn away ungodliness from Jacob:
27For this is my covenant unto them, when I shall take away their sins.
28As concerning the gospel, they are enemies for your sakes: but as touching the election, they are beloved for the father’s sakes.
