But presidency, schmesidency, says Carter, who thinks that the Oval Office isn't nearly as sweet a gig as his own humanitarian efforts at The Carter Center. IAfter all, f he had had that extra helicopter, which would have rescued the hostages (wildly presuming, of course, that the Delta Force commanders were able to pull of a daring rescue of the more than 50 U.S. citizens being held in Tehran) and, thus, helped re-elect him president, Carter said "in that case I probably wouldn't have had the Carter Center, so in balance I would not want to have changed anything.".....
Wow I'm sure the former hostages are relieved that he has the Carter Center. I mean in balance, it was worth the extra time stuck in Iran as hostages because I mean Carter's work at the Carter center is so....invaluable. What a self important, narcissistic a**hole.

My sister worked White House Comm staff for the Air Force during this ummm.... event. Her impression was that there were way too many Chiefs wanting to get some glory for their branches and that Carter was micro managing the Generals.
There is an old saying in the Army. When skirmishes fail, it is the NCO’s fault, when battle plan is screwed up, it is the Captain’s fault but when the whole stinking strategy goes wrong, it’s a General’s fault.

Traitorous pointy peanut head Cahtuh:
“If ahhh had a brain, I might be concurned that folks would realize I have this genetic inability to learn from my mistakes.”
“But since I’m abjectly genetically clueless as well . . . I can blissfully walk on down the street without a moment’s concern about why folks and critters all along the way risk getting killed as jaywalkers to walk on the other side of the street to avoid my smell.”

Not to mention depriving athletes who had trained for years (at great expense to some) for the 1980 Olympics that you unilaterally declared wouldn’t be going. Granted, in the general scheme of things, it’s minor, but to those kids who worked several hours a day for the chance to represent their country, your grandstanding cost YOU nothing, but cost them maybe their one shot at a medal that would have given them lifelong satisfaction.
You were the worst thing ever to happen to this country, Mr. Carter. When you go, the only people who will miss you are terrorists and dictators. Oh....and traitorous moonbats.

Well, okay, maybe one thing. Referring to the Iran hostage crisis, Carter said, "I have a specific regret in not having one more helicopter when I wanted to rescue our hostages. If I had had one more helicopter, they would have been rescued. I might have been reelected president."
From one Georgia boy to another - this isn't what lost you the presidency. You lost because your policies were wrong and you are inept.

I agreed with the boycott of the Moscow Games, the problem was that was the ONLY thing that Carter did against the Soviets.

This great advocate for peace and human rights also helped put Mugabe in power. I suppose decades from now Carter will have his face on t-shirts just like Che does now.
49 electoral votes and 6 states in 1980.... He got what he deserved.
